Dreamcast Finally bought a Dreamcast!

The Dreamcast was a unique little console. It was almost toy-like with the VMU's and various peripherals that were released. The games on it also have that Dreamcast look that feels like it lived and died with the system. I wish it had been supported for longer.

There are a couple of goofy beat-em-ups that I haven't seen posted in this thread. Dynamite Cop and Zombie Revenge are good dumb fun.

I'm saving up for one right now ::yay
I recommend it! Just be aware of what you’re getting into with owning one!

It’s a small console, but it’s loud, so don’t be too worried when it starts making noise (old disc drive though, so compare your system’s noises to other ones online).
And, if you’re going the ODE route, note to never disconnect or connect controllers while the system is on. Dreamcast can be weird that way.

Learn about how to maintain your Dreamcast, and it’ll maintain you!

The Dreamcast will never die. It’s ALWAYS thinking. But be gentle. The system has quirks, and i find the hardware can be somewhat temperamental in ways that the Saturn and Mega Drive/Genesis were not.
WHATEVER YOU DO, NEVER UNPLUG A CONTROLLER OR PLUG A CONTROLLER IN WHILE THE SYSTEM IS ON!
Also never rip the cord out of a controller while it is still plugged in, just because Jim Courier *cheats* on Virtua Tennis. You'll blow the controller ports and either need to repair it or get a whole new console (I opted for a new console back then)

DC is cool. I liked having one to play and a dead one for a paperweight. Those were the days.

I’ve meantioned it in the thread before, but it’s very portable too. GameCube had a handle, but Dreamcast has a smaller overall footprint, especially vertically, so it takes up shockingly little space in a bag. I’ve taken mine halfway across the country and back before.

Mine went from the Gamestop on launch day to the shelf it stayed on until it died, then it went to a different shelf, and the new one took its spot. I have no idea of the actual date that shift happened... Virtua Tennis was maybe a week old at the time. I don't believe I've ever taken a console anywhere unless I moved.

Seems like Golden Axe+ is my most popular port.

Shadow Gangs Seems to be my most popular aftermarket upload.

SOR Legacy seems my most popular homebrew that isn't NSFW

JGR is the best commercial original run. IMO. De La is a neat version but it's really the US version that's best. Hence JGR not JST.
