A ultra niche, incredibly noobish hack I made for FFVI. As far as I know, so please correct me if I am wrong, there are no FFVI hacks that remove exp and growth. I was inspired to "make" this hack from doing a LLGNMG myself and watching multiple playthroughs. The idea is this: No experience, No AP(aka magic points to learn magic by esper or equipment/relic) and beating the game as low level as possible. You cannot level in this hack, as I just said experience has been removed entirely. You cannot learn magic. Espers do not grant stats bonuses as you cannot level, they cannot teach magic and that goes with all equipment and relics. So no vanish+doom or vanish+x-zone. Undead bosses cannot be slain by phoenix down and Gau cannot learn his nightshade rage. It's simply the original game with those changes. I am a total noob and used FFIIIusME by LordEnvoy to "make" this. It was very easy to do. I am hoping if it gets accepted and uploaded here that maybe it can inspire to make it better than me because I am literally just some guy who liked this challenge. If this doesn't meet any criteria I apologize. It is very niche and you are walking into not even baby's first hack. A hack like this already exists on the GBA btw, I found it on Itch.io. If you've done a llg before you know all bosses are beatable, that simply means total RNG of getting palidor from a magicite during the Magic Master fight or wasting his MP with the Paladin Shield.

I used Final Fantasy III Rev 1.1(which I had got from myrient at the time) for this hack. I am hesitant to call it a hack but I suppose it barely counts as one.

If this gets rejected I'm okay with that. If a niche fanbase likes it like I do, I hope I inspire someone actually competent to make it if it hasn't already been done. I also give permission to share the .IPS around if you'd like.

*Re-posted github link.
I had to correct something in the .IPS related to undead bosses. Should be fixed now.

It's an interesting idea; in principle, FF6 does need radical adjustments, but I have to wonder: is beating the game like this truly possible?

@RageBurner It's 100% impossible.

Edit- Let's say you somehow make it all the way to the Floating Continent. The minute Atma Weapon enters its 2nd phase and starts casting Bio and Meteor, it's over. The RNG would have to be insane (no Bio, Quake or Meteor) for that fight to go "smoothly" with such a low level party. If it didn't cast any of those spells, you'd still just be constantly reviving your party with 99 Fenix Downs until they're depleted, then it's game over anyway.

That's exactly my thinking, as well. I also firmly doubt it's even possible to get that far.

You can find a bunch of llg playthroughs. That same guy beat the magic master using the Paladin shield. I only got into LLG because of Retroachievements. Ultros at lete river is a run killer. You have to be strategic through out the playthrough. Gau, Gogo, Strago and Sabin make the game "easy" thanks to their abilities. You need Mog with his moogle charm for no random battles. As I suffered through out my playthrough but ultimately enjoyed it, You gotta watch out for Ninjas on the floating continent and Phases in the Phoenix Cave and Coverts in Gogo's place.

Anyway this is very niche and I am very open to criticisms because this literally my first hack. I am hoping someone else can perfect it from entirely noobish outcome of it. Gau breaks the game and his nightshade rage can charm even Kefka in the final battle which is why I removed it from the veldt in this hack. Don't underestimate Gau or Gogo with Gau's rages.

I love FF6 and I absolutely don't mind adding your hack here to give your hack a boost and a space for feedback, if you want. My favorite FF6 hack is A Soldier's Contingency by Lightning Hunter; in my opinion, it is the correct and elegant way to fix FF6.

I have FFVI a soldier's contingency in my backlog. I need to get to it. Last hack I played was Divergent Paths.

Thanks btw if you do add it. Again, if I failed in anyway I am not against at all of someone taking this concept and actually doing what I hoped for it. Take it and make it better. I just consider this a bandaid for people who want a true LLG challenge without worrying about learning magic, gaining levels and using exploits. I THINK I got most of the exploits out the way but I am unsure about that. Vanish+Doom, Vanish+X-Zone, Phoenix Downs killing Undead Bosses and Gau's Nightshade rage are all gone.

If you know any romhackers who'd take up the concept and improve where I possibly failed or make an outright better version of this, that'd be awesome. I am pretty I covered those exploits in my own limited fashion via FFIIIusME.

Just know that this is a total noobs hack that is simply an off switch to everything I listed. It's the full original game nothing new, nothing added just stuff removed for the low level game challenge.

Just in case anyone needs more interest on this style of playthrough. Here's a playlist.

This video is from the guy above. He defeats Magic Master with Gogo and Umaro. I am pretty sure that's the Paladin shield.

Now what usually ends people's runs if you don't play strategically.

Ultros can one shot Banon(at his lowest he's level 2) and instantly end the run. In my own LLG without the patch I simply leveled Banon solo with the other characters dead and got him to 24. He can solo Ultros that way. But in this patch you cannot do that. A true hardmode. Good luck to any of those who attempt or do it outside this .IPS patch.

This should be my final post unless you need me to discuss anything else, but the hack is finished unless I messed up in places so I'll go back try to fix what I can, if I can. As I said, I am hesitant to call this a hack as it feels more like I simply turn things off with an off switch. It's ultra niche and amongst llg enthusiasts I think a low level natural magic hack is needed. One such hack exists with the GBA version you can find on Itch.io that is like this but I am not sure if he excluded magic learning from espers and items like I did.
