Final Fantasy Thread

Man you always have plans of playing some Final Fantasy games these plans must be in the millions now just how many plans you plan for planning to play Final Fantasy games.

ITS BEEN OVER 8 MONTHS WITHOUT ME TOUCHING A SINGLE FINAL FANTASY TITLE I'M GOING INSANE
i play lots of games. i was playing ff2 last night before i went to bed, and i'm doing a challenge run in ff3 for the psp.
don't you normally play a ff game whenever you disappear for any lengthy amount of time?

i probably have more like 15 ff games started and slowly going through them. most of those are hacks of ff4. just booted up the ff Renaissance game and got some screenshots of it. it's very cool.

The more I try classic Final Fantasy on CRT filter, especially from the SNES era, the more I start to believe how much the Pixel Remasters could have been so much more. These latter ones are made with modern hardware in mind, so inevitably they will look wrong by forcing CRT or similar filters with mods. I think people already made plenty of comparisons and examples about that.

I can imagine how much you in this forum you have discussed the Pixel Remasters treatment here, and I can presume mostly negatively. I believe they're not the worst versions, but neither the best ones. And ofc not because of cut content based on remakes/other remasters.
Final Fantasy VI was definitely the most disappointing of all of them: too much bright, so many bugs and glitches and sprites that look much worse than the originals.

It's cool we got og III for the first time ever thanks to those. And, sure, the opera scene in VI that got HD-2Dified and even voice acted. Yeah, that's about it.
actually no, from what i recall people have been mostly saying that they are a good way to play them.

though personally one complaint i have is the removal of content that was in earlier remakes of the games such as party switch in ff4 and soul of rebirth in ff2

Thats a crazy amount......FF Renaissance? That's a mod for FF1 that brings certain aspects of other games to FF1 it seems?

Huh, ok, I gave for granted otherwise. As I already stated previously: these aren't the worst versions (those will always be the ugly smartphone versions of FF V and VI from 2014), but neither the best ones.
And yeah, about your last statement: the Pixel Remasters are all supposed to be faithful recreations of the original counterparts, so it's why all the remakes/remasters content is cut off.

I still think with the visuals something could have done much better, especially since the SNES-era trilogy looks so much better on those eye-candy CRT filters.

it's a from the ground up fan remake of the first game with 2 modes: classic, which i guess is just the regular game with bug fixes [i haven't tried that mode yet but the game does have multiple save files so i'll check that out in a little bit] and renaissance, which has new jobs like dancer, dragoon [lancer], dark night, evoker, time mage and more.
names can be 6 characters long, there are new spells and classes [warrior seems to have a new advance class instead of knight], there is a speed up option that can be accessed at any point, equipment has more details about its stats and some classes have overworld abilities like finding hidden treasure or combat abilities like boosting attack power or magic power or inflecting status ailments more often.

Honestly that's quite the work for such an ancient game yet it's commendable in every way possible

yeah, it is. i would love to see this happen to the other 8-bit and 16-bit games. it would be awesome to have both the original content and newer stuff added in with their own modes for it.

Is there a way to get all the Butterfinger DLC for the FF7 remake on PS4 without buying Butterfinger? I'd love to know.
