Absolutely the single most exciting announcement in quite some time for me!

The fact that they plan to include a remaster of the original version as well immediately relieved all my usual remake worries.
Should they end up messing it up we'll still have the original version (or at least the War of the Lions version) to fall back on.

the fact they're including the War of the Lions translation with the PSX graphics "Classic" version is reason enough for me to be excited!

I'm tepidly enthusiastic for the story additions with the "Enhanced" version, there's definitely room for mucking things up, but maybe there's additions that account for the lore changes the FFXIV crossover raid added.

The one thing I'm worried about is that the State of Play had text for the Enhanced version that there would be changes made to the script/story. Square-Enix has not gained any trust in making such changes for the better of either the product of the customer...yet have shown that such changes are typically censorious in nature.

I'll keep my eye on it, but I will absolutely _not_ be pre-ordering it. I have the original, the PSP War of the Lions, and the mod on this site anyway.

I played the PSX version like eight times and the PSP version fourish, I'm probably not touching this.

Matsuno is involved so that gives me a decent assurance that it won't have any censorship or unnecessary edits. They are probably adding extra scenes and side quests, if I had to guess what the changes are.

Now if we could get the same treatment for Vagrant Story it would be great.

Would be nice but that game had no sequels, has very little modern fanbase, and didn't have a mobile port for a decade already. I fear games like VS, Parasite Eve, and a lot of great old Square and Enix games from SNES/PS1 era have almost zero chance of a remaster/remake.

Then again we did get Live a Live seemingly out of nowhere, so let's see?
