Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles is burdened by the unenviable task of trying to improve upon a masterpiece while not adding any new imperfections. https://kotaku.com/final-fantasy-tactics-remaster-ivalice-demo-hands-on-changes-2000622300

I will eventually buy it, but I've got a huge backlog and I want to really sink my soul into a game like that

If it comes with Celdia's Complete Patch V2, I'm buying it

I've played vanilla FFT far too much to bother playing it again unmodded.

I'm kinda bummed they chose to omit the WotL content additions and classes, but I absolutely adore the original game to death and consider it the single best FF game out there. I'd be lying if I pretended not to be excited for this.
Even if only because it gives me an excuse to replay the game for the umpteenth time.

That said, I've never been a big fan of their font choice - it kinda works for Tactics Ogre Reborn, but not for FFT in my mind - or of that smoothing filter they're using.
I've seen far worse of either, but still.

I expected about this: like the Pixel Remasters versions of the first six FF turn-battle games, this is another FF re-release that removes every addition of the PSP upgrade. It's sad that Square Enix likes to develop 2020's remaster games without the important changes who developed in the past upgraded versions who becomes much better than the originals.

Money some JRPG enthusiasts will lose with this second FFT1 remaster.

The PSP remake is better in various ways, but retains the difficulty of the original PS1, including the dead end-like battle against Wiegraf. Also, getting Balthier(12) and Luso(TA2) is harder, if you don't have a strategy guide in your room.
