A new Final Fantasy in HD 2D is coming out October 22, that Square Enix says is more in line with a mainline full fledged FF game:

There's an aspect here that looks like a red flag for me. You can summon heroes from other Final Fantasy games (with the Visions system), like in War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Makes me believe that SE will swarm the game with DLC and microtransactions to unlock your favorite heroes. Maybe going the Ubisoft route and make an mobile/console hybrid game.

I mean, it's not a new game per se, but an adaptation of FF: Brave Exvius, offline. Thought that, by your mention of War of the Visions, you knew that game was a spinoff of the original FFBE.

I've been interested in this one for a bit. I used to play Brave Exvius early on, but ended up being forced to bail out just as its second arc was getting started (TL;DR toxic family doing toxic family shit). Despite the short run, I did enjoy my time with the game, and it clearly proved popular enough to get a spin-off while it was going on, and obviously got an offline revival in this game.

It's really rare that a brand-new game catches my interest...and here we are.

I said I would "totally buy a Final Fantasy Brave Exvius offline version" and then they made a whole new game around it.

I had to put down my preorder money (I never buy games at full price) because I stupidly said I would. Thanks, magic genie. Could you maybe create world peace or somethin' now?

In all seriousness, I think they said they're just covering the first arc of Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius so they're probably only going to load it with a little DLC. If the game sells well enough to mean there's enough market capacity for a sequel, then maybe they'll go DLC crazy, knowing people will buy that one. This is just them testing the waters with a Final Fantasy that, uh, plays like an actual Final Fantasy. Uh. Hmm.
