What is the difference between the Tweaked Version and the Neoclassical version? I'm asking because I plan on putting one of them onto my NES classic for my 10 year old son to experience and I want to make sure he has the best experience with it.

Well i think one of those hacks has the Job Improvement... I remember when i stopped playing the Vanilla FF3 because of how awful the Job mechanic was.

There is a reddit post about this here.

However, If you have a PSP, or don't mind emulating, the PSP version of FFIII is the best.

im playing thru FF3 rite now n i srsly commend ur parenting skillz if u popped out a kid willin to sit thru this mirthless slog for mor than an hour. kid cld b havin a blast on roblox or valorant or even w/ a ball outside interacting w/ humans named “Kate” n “Guillermo” but ur set on spec’ing the poor bastard into a retro nerd.

10/10 parent. wld b ur spawn.

go w/ neoclassical. it buffs classes to giv u mor viable options. party construction becomes mor interesting.
