Final Fantasy 7 Remake or Original Which is better for the first time experiencing the game ?

not the remake............ try the shinra archaeology cut on pc! its a full retranslation of the og :)
Totally forgot to look into retranslations for my first playthrough. Oh well, still enjoyed it. There is always a next time. ::flexing

If I had played the remake first I would think how bad the original would be lol. Remake obviously have bad design choices throughout the whole game and I knew the remake would be so bad just because this happened to me from the start lol:

I can't speak much about the gameplay since I didn't play it. It does look like remake could be more fun since original is pretty much a standard turn based game with mini games here and there. So my opinion is more based on the story side of the game. That's why when I say "if I could go back", I'm thinking : why would I play first an unfinished remake thats is more like and extension of the core game, when I can play the complete thing in ps1.
There are emulators that run on cell phones, you can use Duckstation or Matsu Player multi-emulator to run the .cue file and start playing PS1 games. If you don't have a smartphone, there are plenty of good emulator options on PC.
Maybe I phrased it wrong. I meant to say that I can't play the remake so I watched a gameplay of i, then I went and played the original.

Honestly, I'd say just finish what you've started. You said you're already enjoying it so far, why not stick with it until the end?

I personally think remakes and/or adaptions are always better experienced after completing the original source material anyways. The differences, slight or major, are always fun to discuss and think about!

Well for the record just for lolz once I run the FF7 Remake on this APU and it worked in a very playable manner: https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/a8-5600k.c1101

Thanks that the game developed on Unreal Engine you can easily downgrade games to get extra FPS juice out of the games so later on I made FF7 Remake flying but graphics kinda turned to Nintendo 64 lol.

The APU is so bad it cannot even run Zelda BOTW on CEMU and it can barely run GTA 5 in playable way lol.

Mmm. For reference I was able to play(to my surprise, with good fps) the remake of trials of mana which is also made in unreal engine, and it's true what you say about the downgrade, it wouldn't be the first time Im forced to choose the lowest of the lowest resolutions and all. and the game working flowlessly. I might try it, thanks.

Definitely 100% the original FF7 its one of the best games ever made!
and as a gamer its basically your duty to beat it at least once!
i wouldn't touch those stinky remakes though they are just for suckers chasing nostalgia

Well then my "lowest possible end" ini settings may help:

Just so you know they are for extreme lowest end setting so you may tweak them to your liking to even increase some graphics quality!!!

Ah, democracy wins!!! Flawless victory!!! lolol

Always the original, FF VII still holds up a ton in terms of story and gameplay, really everything in general. Remake is far from being the actual game despite what the name suggests to say the least, oh and it's even more messier as a game and God forbid as a FF so thanks Nomura.

Well why not both then I mean play the original since you already played then after that play the remake if you play for alternative story for me though I like Crisis Core.

But for FF series my favorite is always 6.

Play remake first, i played the the original first in 2021 and regretted that i played it first the story is way too much for the underpowered hardware, first time experience the story on remake, once done you can always replay the original

go for the original. i know the remake takes a more action RPG approach to things and apparently it changes up a few things story wise later on too

Honestly I would say FF7 original as it´s well the original. FF7 remake changed so damn much I would call it FF7 another story. Also who the fuck wanna pay over 100 bucks to play 1 game and the price tag will be probably around 150 when part 3 is out if they even make it.

people upset Nintendo charge 80 bucks a game when Square alrady gone over 100 for 1 damn game and they fooled every one by making it a 3 part game. It´s like the orginal it came out 3 disc. Well I did not have to pay 150 for it nor did I have to wait to get the next CD.

Thank you all, people. I'm going to stick with my original game, then I'll give the remake a shot. I thought the remake would be more enjoyable to play because of the advancements in experience of devs and technology since 1997. However, from what I've heard, it is more like a fanservice title that you enjoy more if you play the original first. So, the original is going to be my choice.

Yep you are not wrong and whole FF community is glad you asked to learn about it because playing the original first you may had dislike the game so hard it could make you stop wanting to play the original and dislike FF7 forever by being so misguided by the remake BS lol. Sometimes remakes are better, like how Crisis Core remake is better but TBH being a remake was not the purpose of FF7 Remake which is "oh the irony" moment here lol.

Perhaps video game industry should invent a new name for what they do. Honestly remakes were always a thing as we got used to seeing good old arcade games having remakes in video game consoles and all, but what they do is more about "remix".

Yeah. Even Resident Evil 3 Remake is a better remake than FF7 Remake lol.
NO...they removed the decision mechanic. Plus they didn't have the epic end line "STARS, I'll show you stars." ending nemesis quip. It is just as bad as RE4 remake removed the ballistic one....Course I won't like 4 remake is MUCH better than original, mostly cause knife op powerness.
