Final Fantasy Wheelie GIF by Square Enix

I've had a hard time swallowing whatever Square enix threw our way since FF15, Yeah the company ran into pumps in the past but it wasn't as bad as this (well if you count the ff movie then that might be a lil different) I just can't understand how this company work anymore, I'm not gonna rant about their business plan so I'll stay on point, i didn't enjoy ff7r and I can't even go past the first 10 hrs of rebirth, I hate the multiverse I'm not a big fan of how the game carry itself and I hate the "revision" who asked for this ? And who likes it? I'm asking genuinely what is so great about ff7r ? Because either I'm stupid or I'm crazy, I'm all for new ideas but not the way they are doing it, I even kinda liked FF12 even tho the hell that game went thru but you can at least see the vision, but with 7R ? It's just a waste of time, i really wanna know what people think of the game if you played it did you like it ? Yes or no please explain with your reason and thoughts on the remake I'm ltrly beefing with a friend over it rn

Anyone that greatly enjoyed the compilation and just wanted more of that, but also a reimagining of the original game in that style is very happy with it.

Basically, long story short, everyone that loved advent children pretty much wanted the original game again but in that style, best they could offer at the time was crisis core and dirge of cerberus, of which I greatly enjoyed dirge, not so much crisis core.

With all that in mind, I am one of the many fans that wanted the advent children style remake of FF7, and we got that at last, so I absolutely adore these games far more than I ever could enjoy the original anymore.

These games are definitely not made for the fanatics of the OG game that hated the FF7 compilation, it's that simple.

Yes, I was there at the time, the hype for an advent children style remake is very real and most of us bought the two new games, anyone that hated compilation or worse completely ignored it, got blindsided by these games.

Also in all honesty, it's very much what FF7 would have been had it be made today anyway. The original was an N64 game that was switched over to the ps1 at some point during development thus giving it the N64 character models that are in the game.

Also Kazushige Nojima was one of the main writers for the original 7, but also advent children and the remake trilogy. This is pretty much just elements he's been adding since advent children and this new trilogy fits with that vision

What I'm trying to say is, FF7 Remake could've been a faithful remake—not FF7 2.0. What they're doing now might’ve worked better as a movie, maybe something like the Dragon Quest V movie. I did like some aspects, like how they gave the early characters more depth and expanded on their lives, but beyond that, nothing really made me interested in playing it. I went through hell to finish the Remake and couldn’t bring myself to replay it with the Intergrade expansion.

And when Rebirth came out, it completely turned me off—I don’t even want to see anything about FF7 anymore. I feel like Square reached their peak with the original FF7 and fell off hard with the Remake. I’ve seen people blaming the developers for Rebirth’s shortcomings, and then shifting the blame between Nomura and the writer, which is crazy to me.

I think Square could’ve done a lot of creative new things with Final Fantasy—or honestly, just created a new IP, since they've already sold two FF7 titles. All of this just makes me scared of what Dragon Quest XII might end up looking like

I disliked original FF7 especially because of its "let's save our dying world" cringe that we had to endure a lot around that time and I'm disappointed that they didn't fix the BS story at all then what's the point of remake?

All I see is a waste of space and an expensive fan service game. We all know their only goal is 4K assets of a certain character and fan service around it lol.

Perhaps only decent remake Square Enix ever developed was Crisis Core FF7 because the game is still what we like and they fixed the game so it got better, while FF7 remake introduced more issues than the original had. Despite its length, new content and file size the game got more empty and pointless lol.

All i wanted was FF7 and i got was Nomura meddling because he is willing to destroy all other franchises since Square caesar'd his baby Versus13 in broad daylight.
Seriously thank you for this, I said the exact same thing and people label me a hater when I'm just stating the fact

Exactly, I understand the premise of let's save the world is kinda meh and over used but didn't mind it that much, If I wanted a remake, I wanted some deep lore into the philosophy of the game and characters the little simple things that the old game couldn't show, like the tired expressions of Sephiroth and the confusion of cloud and some depth into all the characters

I understand you wanted better graphics but what do you like about the multiverse and the ghosts and the rewrite of the story ? Splitting the game into 200 hours 3 different discs with some weird rewrite is not all that worth it, since you. Loved AC wouldn't a movie be enough?

It honestly looks like everything I wouldn’t want LOL, and I’m not particularly against remakes. This one just looks ok.

Every time I look at rebirth Isee an empty hole that could've been filled with so much compared to the hype they gave us even tho I didn't take the bait, already got stung by remake, but I must say Square developers love to waste time go into circles specially with how they made rebirth and how they advertised it

I mean, that’s just modern square in a nutshell LOL, the last square games with any passion behind them were KH2 and DQ11.

I'm not really a classic FF fan. I mean, I played 7 as a kid, and like 10 seconds of KH2 back then as well.
Getting into it as of late I think has been the best thing because I don't have that level of disappointment I suppose. I like both the original saga and the new remakes. It's different sure, doesn't make it bad. Also, the switch from turn based to real time combat doesn't bug me like it does everyone else. I always figure, if a remake gets people curious about the original, then it's done it's job, and it seems like FF7R has done that with many people, so that's enough for me I suppose. But I'm also one of the weirdos that liked FF13 and 15, and KH3 doesn't seem that bad to me either, but I guess I'll find out when I get to that one.

I think this question could trigger a war. I think we shouldn't ask such questions anymore. Ok to your question I played both remake parts, I was not disappointed but not completely satisfied either. What I liked most was this open world, I kind of like that and I also liked that you could build relationships with the individual player characters those were my highlights. I pray that Square somehow manages to complete the third part satisfactorily but I don't expect anything.

I don't really have a crazy amount of affection towards original FF7; I like it, but it's not my favorite game of all time or anything like that.

I think the biggest problem I have with FF7R is the name. It's not an actual remake of the original, which disappointed many who bought the game on release, expecting it to be a 1:1 retelling with updated graphics.

Personally, I would've preferred that the marketing and name of the game was more upfront about what the game is, and I think that this would've solved a few of the issues that people had with the game.

yes and no for me
liked the story, disliked the battle system

also, i would have liked a less fat remake, that could work great even on non beefed hardware configs (PC)

No. I hated both parts for what they did to the story. It's not the padding that ruins it, it's the story. It has a serious take, it has the characters acting in character, but the changes to the story are so major that it's not a remake anymore. It's not FFVII, it's another sequel. I would feel better if this was Midgar as one of the worlds in Kingdom Hearts because that would make a hell of a lot more sense. It's not FFVII. Not bashing Kingdom Hearts, I love that series. But Square cheated us out of a real experience.

FF7 Remake:

Perfect. The way they developed the story, the cutscenes, the combat system, the exploration taking cues from Yakuza was amazing. One of my favorite games of all times.

FF Rebirth:

Felt too bloated with not-so-good sidequests, exploration was awful in some parts (like the chocobo parts in Gongaga). Besides, the way they handled the story, specially with ** that part ** at the end left me with a sour taste in my mouth.

I hope the final part delivers what the original game deserves, and maybe a revision of Rebirth that actually handles that scene better would be nice too.

Only thing good about 13 was 13-2 tbh
Lightning returns is as good as majoras mask for anyone that actually gave the game a decent chance, maybe not as groundbreaking as MM, but thats a given though.

I always wanted to try to play the game, I abandoned it when I learned of the time limit, tunrs out it's not bad at all and quite generous.

All in all lightning returns is a majoras mask/valkyrie profile game where lightning is the Valkyrie, it's pretty great so long as you aren't expecting a final fantasy game and I think the clue is in the name being ligtning returns and not final fantasy 13-3, the dev really just wanted to make a valyrie profile game starring lightning, shameless

Kingdom Hearts 3 is great storywise. It wraps everything up perfectly.

Hell no it wasn't.
And I'm by no means a nostalgic purist - I thought the original was... okay, but no flawless masterpiece by any measure. It was the first game to make me cry (at the end of the first disc), but I'm absolutely not in love with it.

I felt second-hand embarassment for the devs every single time every single female character went out of their way to butter me up and tell me just how great I am over and over and over and over again, while the unending deluge of anime mouth sounds sent chills of disgust and irritation down my spine every five minutes or so.

These might be petty criticisms to some, but man they ruined the game for me.
