Better not ask
It's been three years since the final episode of Better Call Saul aired, bringing the entire Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul universe to a close. To this day, I still think Better Call Saul is a better show than Breaking Bad. Am I the only one who feels like BCS being a BB spinoff kind of worked against it from the start?
When I started watching the first season, I expected it to be just Breaking Bad bait—a typical spin-off where you'd get Heisenberg in season 3, and the story would just be BB told from another angle. I honestly thought they were just milking the Breaking Bad name, and I remember thinking: “Okay, that was a great, complete story why risk ruining it with a cheap spin-off?”
But season after season, BCS proved me wrong. It became one of my all-time favorite shows.
While the focus was mainly on Jimmy, every character perspective in the show was compelling. Kim was the perfect counterbalance to Jimmy. Chuck, even though he came off as a jerk, was somewhat understandable he knew who Jimmy really was. Nacho added a fascinating angle to how the Mexican cartel worked. Mike was the MVP for me his character, which was barely explored in BB, was fully fleshed out here, especially his relationship with his family. And poor Howard… I genuinely feel bad for him.
The story ended on a bittersweet note, and honestly, I think the ending was, in its own way, better than Breaking Bad’s.
Three years ago, an era ended. And I still feel kind of sad that Better Call Saul never got the same level of recognition or success that Breaking Bad did.

Better Call Saul was the most unique experience I got out of any TV series.

I like Better Call Saul better:

On paper both are about the same thing. An adult realizes that playing by the books is actually not a good way to have a decent life.

What's different: Breaking Bad is about a person experiencing his late puberty lol, Better Call Saul is just about the next stage of adulthood. Seriously watching that bald being cringe and they stretching the tv series a lot and then his cancer wife getting more cancer every episode wasn't fun to watch (no wonder he got cancer yo). Sure it has its good moments but in comparation I'll pick Better Call Saul lol.

I'm only going to say Better Call Saul is better solely because I like Bob Odenkirk as an actor and he gets more time to shine there (and not to be off topic but as great of a dramatic actor he is, he's even funnier as a comedian in stuff like Mr. Show).

I like it. But I still liked Breaking Bad more. Better Call Saul can be slow. More so in the early seasons. Hot take, but I hated Howard, even after he died.

Better Call Saul can be slow, is an understatement of the highest proportions. It was a tedious mess from the start. When the Howard bullshit passed, they eventually speeded it up, but it was subpar from the beginning and just tried to regain some credibility before they finished the abomination.

Better Call Saul is indeed better, but only thanks to Breaking Bad. The connection between them makes everything so much more impactful. I’m not sure it would work as well without that link. It’s a prequel done right, and it's even a sequel at the same time. Those black and white scenes are masterpieces.

If it wasn't connected to breaking bad, people would have stopped watching it after the 3'rd episode and saved themselves a lot of nonsense.
