you have the wrong idea you ding-dong. I genuinely really ,really disliked 33 and FF7. Last I checked
I live I America and I am constitutionally entitled to my opinion. I guess its easy for keyboard warriors like yourself to grumble and use CAPS to insult just a normal member expressing their feelings.
thumbs up for censorship brother. (y)

'Last I checked, I'm in 'Murica!' - Spoken on a website open to the entire world. lol.

I find it odd this excuse is never used by anyone with something actual useful or intelligent to say, and only to shut down others who don't agree with oneself or it is their obviously agressive attempt at stirring the pot.

Good job.

I don't like E33 that much to begin with and that's obviously all just personal preference, AI or not, all that matters is that you enjoyed the experience.
This does worry me a little as to where gaming of the future will eventually end up with AI seeping in more and more, day by day.

This Thread is full of people who have no idea what 'Indie' actually means because it has been colloquially changed to something other than its actual meaning. Indie means published independentaly. That's it. Everything else is just people's own stamped on interpretation and is not factually correct.

Thank you fellow American. I love the use of the unintelligent argument shutdown argument when you disagree and are trying to shutdown that argument, spoken like a true blue-state flake.

100% disagree that you can't use it as a label any more. Games are still coming out every day made by like 1-5 people. I think you can make the distinction that your company started out as indi and was acquired, like the HighFi-Rush devs (I think), but there are still TONS of clear cut examples of fantastic indi games still coming out every day. Case and point, a game that just came out made by like 2 guys and a bunch of their musician friends, Unbeatable!
Yes, those types of games do still exist and many of us consider them to be "true" indie games but at TGA have shown, they are brushed with the same label as games which really do not fit that description (also HiFi Rush was completely a non-indie title. It was developed by a small team within a much larger entity (in this case bethesda/microsoft) and had many benefits indie games of any current description do not).

It's not that the meaning of the term has changed, not for most of us here. But the market itself has chosen to add games under the umbrella which are so far removed from the original meaning that the dictionary definition means nothing when you go to one of the digital games marketplaces.

Go to steam, PS store, Nintendo eShop, etc, you'll find many "indie" titles which were not published independently and yet are considered indie by the markets, award events, etc.

I thought you'd have trouble reading it if I spelled it correctly, especially considering your improper grammar. Those in glass houses my friend. Cheers!

I do wish there were better defined parameters, because there is certainly a difference, but not clear enough apparently that the gaming community as a whole has been able to actually define it. It is the problem of genre all over again, where lines are grey and fuzzy. Does it need to be an exact dollar amount? If the limit is $100,000 but the devs use $100,001, does that disqualify them? Where is the line?

This isn't meant to be snarky at all, I'm genuinely interested in the theory crafting and discussion.

WHAT!!! I'll have you know sir, I have the HIGHEST quality American public edumacation.

I wanted to do the 'laugh' emoji, but that could've been construed as laughing AT you... sooo not that it matters, but I found that response funny xD

Also.. highly unpopular opinion here... BUT.... I think it is sort of ironic that Expedition 33 being as well received as it is DESPITE it's use of A.I. kinda throws a wrench into a lot of the arguments being used against A.I. in terms of its contributions as 'Real Art'. (Ignoring the real world implications of potential job loss, potential environmental hazards, etc. Purely discussing it in terms of whether or not it can be good enough to be 'art'.)

People often say that A.I. driven content is not art by definition because human hands were not used to create it or there was no meaningful message behind it... but those same people couldn't even tell when something WAS made with the 'non-art' they have been criticizing.

The obvious argument here is, 'we don't know how much was A.I. and how much wasn't.' But as those lines become thinner and thinner, will it really matter? Something will either speak to you, or it won't, and in a vacuum without knowing beforehand what is and is not A.I. someone can still be emotionally impacted in the way art is 'designed' to do.

It's death of the author taking to the next extreme: death of the A.I. artist. It is all in the eyes and minds of those viewing/playing/reading it. To argue otherwise is essentially just a cope.

Why are we being political?

Sorry couldnt help it. The "you are doing this" because you have nothing intelligent to say and are just trying to end a discussion is used ad-nauseum by crackpots against normal people here in the US these days in EVERY aspect of life, you cant escape it. So forget that back on track, lets get back to games....

here is a pic of my E33 nemesis

you ain't kidding about it being unpopular, I made the mistake of not liking
E33 and then saying why.
