Somehow, both games are getting a sequel.
Fire Emblem Fates is that sequel. With more involved mechanics, map exclusive mechanics, removed cheese, refined difficulty, Bad Writing, and 3 whole games of content; almost double the number of total chapters, Fates is-

Broadly considered one of the most widely disliked FE games.

For reasons that are not unwarranted, yes, but come along with me and you'll understand that this game has more to offer to a dedicated player than a casual fan, paradoxically. For all of the beamoaning how the series was now "Too anime" and "Infested By CASUALS", Fates arguably gives the real Hard Mode Gaming fans what they want over the 3ds noobs, to an extent only somewhat matched by future entries. Fates is a game of experimentation, vastly increasing the scope of combat by including more moving variables from combat to combat, more control over how units grow and change class, and also Gay Marriage! Gay marriage is suboptimal for mixed attacker builds but that's besides the point.

Streetpass! Fates has an integrated streetpass system for distributing your customizable main character Corrin (You're probably familiar with them as the girl from smash bros with her feet out a chainsaw sword, but corrin is a lot more than that. Corrins can be deployed in all missions, and despite not having support conversations, they are fully featured insofar as having the exact stats and growths as the genuine article. Now, while streetpass and the Suprisingly Robust Online System have been down for some time now, through the power of hacking we can add and modify these Corrin Clones into the game, fully customizable in terms of giving them an appearance, a Pokemon-Nature esque Boon/Bane, and just about any class in the game and custom skill sets to make up for their lack of post-generation reclassing

However, all corrins must know that they're fighting for their lives. in this Playthrough of Revelation Hard/Classic, permadeath is ENABLED. Your corrins CAN and perhaps WILL die. I, personally, have never played through Rev before in its entirety despite owning all 3 routes since launch, and although since I'm playing on the middle difficulty and have a lot of experience with the game's mechanics, I do NOT know the finer points about the back half of Rev. Anyway we have a chapter to play. All* enemies** from this point on are promoted so we do have to lock in on positioning and matchups

But before that, we have some reclassing to do.

Vesthal gets a massive stat boost off the witch promo. Thanks dlc! She's pretty much going to be same as usual ability wise though, just much faster

Meanwhile, Luna is going to be getting more movement, bulk, and also E rank swords. Man it'd be nice if that was extremely relevant Right Now.

next up to bat is Naizou, who's getting spear master. It doesnt really do a ton interesting in particular but +3 strength and an extra point of move is well enough

(remember here that lancefaire gives him an effective 23 strength)

Last up, Dentist is getting promoted to Onmyoji at long last. Finally, she can start to use staves. Onmyoji doesn't have very amazing stats either but magic is good enough that it's not going to be a big deal

our team is almost all promoted now, too.

Anyway let's talk about the new items we have on deck from last chapter(s). Brynhildr is an E rank tome that any of our corrins can use that has great damage output and also the Aegis effect... sometimes. Kamui is broadly going to be using this as his magic dps because his magic is still kind of really low. Kamui is in what we in the buisness like to call "E Rank hell" where using an arms scroll would solve all my problems but using an arms scroll to go from E to D sucks in comparison to going from D to C, so I'm too stubborn to use one now when I could technically I think get more out of using one after I slap like 30 enemies with a bronze lance.

Anyway in hindsight going in on Basara was a bad idea. My plan was to give Kamui Rend Heaven, a skill that I didn't fully understand how it worked. It's very very bad in a way I had never realized because I as a Conquest Enjoyer had such low exposure to. Combine that with some pretty rancid pair up bonuses (Luck and Res) and to be completely honest, Kamui sucks. He's just not good! he does like no damage and can't double. feels bad. At least Brynhildr can carry him for the next couple chapters

Meanwhile, Seigfried and Raijinto are just really good. Their base power is excellent, they have great hit rates, 1-2 range with no drawbacks, and free stat boosts. Raijinto bumps up strength by 4 as long as its in the inventory and Seig does the same but for defense. best part? they're both considered E rank so even Luna can use them right out the gate. Both of these are extremely good weapons that are going to make this upcoming level way easier... which is intended, because this is the part of Rev it becomes the Xander and Ryoma show anyway

enough preamble let's get moving. Draconic hex is the best thing Kamui can do right now, even if he can't kill consistently.

Carrying on, all damage you can get in is good damage. Oni Cheiftans are a sleeper hit in terms of being really dangerous enemies

These master of arms are kind of bums but W E C A N T D O U B L E T H E M

Honestly I might have to have Kamui go all in on a forged Mjolnir at some point because his high skill is the only thing he really has going for him right now

The math DOES support what I'm doing but also the math sucks so I wish I just hadn't bothered honestly.

These merchants are bulkier than youd expect from the class name, not even Yousef can one round them

Did I mention the alpha yato yet? Honestly I kind of forget. Anyway we have it and despite being not 1-2 range like the other relic weapons it gives a full stat boost to the holder and it has excellent base parameters. I don't feel like checking.

How can yousef keep getting these dog ass levels and still be one of my best units

Wompus is doing fine for himself, but the fact he's not quite able to double is annoying, although he IS against some decently fast enemies. Spear master getting an innate crit boost kind of rules tbh I dont think I mentioned that before

Korny is putting in work as usual and gets the worlds most normal level for her efforts

Going up the left here we actually have quite a few different enemy types, most being ranged attackers. Working around the attack ranges on this tight bridge is a pain, and we have to take care of these forts to complete the level objective

Disrobing gale is great for taking care of fast enemies because it boosts your AS

More anya tome grinding. This was probably not worth leaning so far into in hindsight

For all the shit I give kamui he can at least trigger his attack skills pretty often

Yousef is still scared of magic no matter what we do so I have Korny no-sell this sage

Cleaning up, vesthal hits so hard with magic esp with the Witch pair up. Mag/Speed pair up bonos are crazy

anyway i should probably like talk about the level gimmick? these forts all have dragon veins for us to deal with and kamui has to run his ass around and hit all of them because cheating in the dragon vein items is annoying and I had forgotten to actually do it

This bum can do nothing to Yousef

They can do things to samus though, who sadly is kind of falling off in terms of usefulness. Knives are always good inherently due to their debuff effects but her damage output and bulk has been so Eh for so long that i'd like to get her levels where she can

anyway enough of that the REAL protagonist has arrived: that's right baby its PDG ready to secure her title for MVP of this run. Not even gonna lie the relic swords are all amazing and she can use all of them. at once. which will come up.

Dentist is here too and i'd like to get her XP she has serious potential thats hard to tap into when I instincivly hit rally spectrum every turn

Gotta go fast. Kitsune might be a weak class in the grand scheme of things but +5 speed pair up is irreplaceable

I have like mayble 30 PDG crit moments coming up that will be in this thread so i've decided that whenever one happens I literally won't comment on it or we'll be here all day

Luna got a much more compelling level than her sister. did you know that dark knight has the same base strength as paladin? yeah she can use those fancy swords if need be and actually do a good job

the left side of the map is pretty slow moving but at least yousef can Stifle the Flow leading to the Objective position
