The Year is 2015.
Awakening has sold gangbusters.
Paper Mario Sticker Star has crashed and burned.
Somehow, both games are getting a sequel.
Fire Emblem Fates is that sequel. With more involved mechanics, map exclusive mechanics, removed cheese, refined difficulty, Bad Writing, and 3 whole games of content; almost double the number of total chapters, Fates is-

Broadly considered one of the most widely disliked FE games.

For reasons that are not unwarranted, yes, but come along with me and you'll understand that this game has more to offer to a dedicated player than a casual fan, paradoxically. For all of the beamoaning how the series was now "Too anime" and "Infested By CASUALS", Fates arguably gives the real Hard Mode Gaming fans what they want over the 3ds noobs, to an extent only somewhat matched by future entries. Fates is a game of experimentation, vastly increasing the scope of combat by including more moving variables from combat to combat, more control over how units grow and change class, and also Gay Marriage! Gay marriage is suboptimal for mixed attacker builds but that's besides the point.

Streetpass! Fates has an integrated streetpass system for distributing your customizable main character Corrin (You're probably familiar with them as the girl from smash bros with her feet out a chainsaw sword, but corrin is a lot more than that. Corrins can be deployed in all missions, and despite not having support conversations, they are fully featured insofar as having the exact stats and growths as the genuine article. Now, while streetpass and the Suprisingly Robust Online System have been down for some time now, through the power of hacking we can add and modify these Corrin Clones into the game, fully customizable in terms of giving them an appearance, a Pokemon-Nature esque Boon/Bane, and just about any class in the game and custom skill sets to make up for their lack of post-generation reclassing

However, all corrins must know that they're fighting for their lives. in this Playthrough of Revelation Hard/Classic, permadeath is ENABLED. Your corrins CAN and perhaps WILL die. I, personally, have never played through Rev before in its entirety despite owning all 3 routes since launch, and although since I'm playing on the middle difficulty and have a lot of experience with the game's mechanics, I do NOT know everything.



Anyway, yeah back to Bootleg Chapter 10

Anya gets a pretty great level up off of Aura farming off of these armor nights which is going to make up the remainder of her contributions to this mission

Meanwhile on the left instead of getting the dual club, which is pretty nice to have, we get the very very nice levin sword which I will be making proper use out of for the rest of this play through. Magic weapons in this game are very very good their base power is incredibly high relative to most tomes and just about any character with a workable magic stat, which in this case includes pretty much all corrins, That are in a physical class can make excellent use out of them there's even one for every single physical weapon type! And luckily for us this isn't like engage, where there's only like two of them that are any good

Korny gets a very Ninja level

Getting Anya's tome rank up is going to be very helpful so aura farming off all these armor knights is the best thing she can be doing right now

This upcoming group of enemies is a little bit threatening so I decide to throw Yoseph as a pair up partner. Four defense is no joke.

Anyway we've been a ninja for a little while, and I think it's about time we get some nice big stat boosts on Korny

This is a pretty massive stat boost including five strength and six resistance, So we're sure to get a lot of mileage out of this dreadfighter is a kind of multi talented ninja esque class with an extra emphasis on magic defense and she can also use axes for some reason presumably just because it worked like that in awakening. Sadly we don't get the awakening dread fighters tom usage instead having daggers but hey it is what it is.

With this new stat spread she's going to be a lot better at enemy phasing

Wompus gets a nice level off sweeping up the remaining central enemies

While these reinforcements seem a little bit touchy they aren't actually that bad cause all our best units are right here

More Aura Farming! Bowbreaker is paying dividends

A second identical outlaw thinks you can also take Korny and dies to the exact same combat calculations

An acceptable level up for marginal gain

Korny also gets a skill that bumps up her res... but like only sometimes. skills are skills I guess

Ah the low percent samus crit... haven't had one of those in a while

This may look slightly dicey but anya can handle these guys no sweat, because none of them actually have javelins. I love doubling at 1-2 range!

The right team is moving in and I'm trying to form them up to take care of all these moving enemies although the most threatening ones the generals don't move at all

Let's slap on a rally, for luck

These armors do a non insignificant amount of damage especially with the general's dual strikes but luckily PDG has the dual katana to just dodge them all

Another segment that took a couple minutes. This turn was really tough to get through but I managed to worm my way out of it

Dentist might not be our most capable unit but she's more than capable of exploding this random guy especially since she has some magictaker built up by now

This armor hates to see pdg coming

Korin manages to dodge, as usual. That's what she's here for!

Everything goes pretty much well though I will say I did have to test every single combination of people attacking into everyone standing from every location just to make sure that no one would get shot at by the archer and die.

This is a much more simplified game state. take it away, dentist

This would be a bad level for anyone else but this is basically as good as it gets for what dentist is doing

Charlotte who we have spent quite a while warming around this map to get to decides to attack into Xehanort. If she somehow died to the 2% crit im not going to reset for her

A pretty blistering corrin level up. I think this is like her first strength level since the wind tribe

Hey you know what **** it she hasn't really seen a lot of actions you might as well get some while the gettin's good

Only a single point of strength off promotion really sucks but extra movement and a big pile of extra res and skill are sure to do something right

In her nine tails form her 3D model also looks different and I think it looks very cool. good for her

Put the steel axe in the bag

This is really nice. Getting Kamui's skill up for Tomes is going to be really really helpful the further we get in

These generals have real stats but are noting compared to the raw power of dentistry. you go girl

Dentist gets her first good level in a long while. All of magic, speed, and bulk is always nice to have.

Silas has some exceptional stats, which he keeps as a playable unit, but here Samus can just blast him in to next week

The last enemy on the map decides that nah, maybe he shouldn't try to 1v1 the corrin squad

I haven't played the game since I blasted through like 5 chapters in march. uhhhhhhhh next time on Corrinball Z: I have to play the game again

Did anyone order... Corrin powerscaling?

Anyway, here's the combined stat totals of all our corrins as of now. As it would make sense, all the promoted ones are on the top and the unpromoted ones are on the bottom. I wasn't expecting Ellipse to be so high up, with a notable jump between her and Anya. Wompus is also doing very well for himself, seemingly from the advantages of autolevelling... weird that Xehanort isn't doing too hot. Poor vesthal is falling behind... I'll have to address the inequalities in the corrin space.

CHAPTER 15:

I think the rainbow sage might be in this level

This map gets reused in every route but with a different enemy layout every time. In conquest, the enemies have themed skills. In birthright, they have wacky gimmick statlines. in rev.... they're just sort of normal guys. they're like undead ghosts i guess, but markedly different undead ghosts than we're used to

That said, the promoted enemies in this level are no joke. they have stats comparable to our corrins

they don't even got a real boss. can you tell this level doesn't have a lot going on?

Let's get mobile. Kamui goes to take care of the fodder up the left

Shura has entered the building

Oh my lord look at those stats. Shura is incredible, he's fast, he's strong, he can use staffs, and his res and weapon ranks are both very high.

I had to wait a turn to stick Korny over here because I ran the numbers and she could have theoretically died if she didn't have Even Keel up

Although that really isnt a massive issue because she's dodgy as hell

IntSys ran out of time and money making the Rev dlc so they couldn't playtest it. this is the only conceivable reason for nyx being like this

In conquest this room has a bunch of lunge ninjas who move you to the miniboss, Kaze. In rev they didn't have any ideas so they just do nothing

Shura loves being strong

Honestly I'm kind of starting to notice I didn't take many screenshots of the map screen so i have very little context to all these scenes of people killing enemies and getting level ups. This is because very little is going on this level

Why are they so averse to giving us any weapons that don't suck balls. Spirit katana is like a basically worthless weapon

shura fighting unpromoted enemies is insane

Kamui is doing quite well for himself with the levin sword. These generals can be cut down to size rather efficiently, although he's still off one-rounding at this point

Coming in from the left, Wompus has some serious damage output with near unmatched defenses. Corrin's base strength is so good, that its funny to be reminded by one of our few non-magical units

While I don't love throwing Ellipse into a straight fight, she assuages my fears with a meaty fujin yumi crit

man the legendary weapons are pretty excellent huh?

Going up the stairs here really does just give us the initiative to break apart the fodder in this level

I go for a cheeky swap here with the guard naginata, but it actually doesn't end up mattering. Nice skill to have handy, though
