Favourite MK (Not Mortal Kombat, Mario Kart) Game?

so recently at lunch my friend and i were talking about Mario Kart World and i was explaining to him how it didnt feel anything close to being worth $80, as he hadnt seen the stream or any videos about the game. so then we had this thought, which Mario Kart game is the best? So i have played Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8. out of all of these, i am in LOVE with MKDS. So the reason why i choose MKDS over MK7 is probably because timing my stunts and tricks felt really hard (as im pretty bad at gaming in general so this is entirely a skill issue) and i wanted to go for simplicity, therefore i chose MKDS probably. another reason might be because they didnt add Waluigi and made some response like "he was battling a very bad deathly sickness" or whatever idk, which really felt like they just forgot to add him and had a bs lore piece to throw people off their trail. anyway, what is YOUR fav MK game?

The original Super Mario Kart for the SNES is still a classic for me. I enjoy the simplicity of it when compared to the later MK titles.

The original Super Mario Kart for the SNES is still a classic for me. I enjoy the simplicity of it when compared to the later MK titles.

I've played the original and while I can see the bases of the rest of the franchise it's hard to go back to with the lack of real 3D and the drifting mechanic is really hard to handle compared to the rest of the franchise.
