Favorite Xbox 360 JRPGs?

Lost Odyssey is top tier and it's one I constantly return to along with Blue Dragon.

Bonus PSA: don't play blue dragon on the XSX. It won't accurately count your time properly and that drives me mental.

i think i have played an completed all the titles released on the 360, at least the offline ones

The Lost Remnant is my fave, i have spent more than a year on it back then, reaching to complete all the sidequests (100 iirc) too

reaching to beat the final sidequest boss is what really makes great this title

loved the battle system, there is a lot inside other than the main story

probably Star Ocean Last Hope, FF13 and Eternal Sonata all togheter in second place :)

Tales of Vesperia imo although I never beat it I got far. My first Tales game was Eternia which I pirated on PSP.
Symphonia and Arise are the only Tales of games I finished but I enjoyed Xillia and got far in that.

I never played Lost Odyssey or Infinite Undiscovery but PS3 and Wii both curbstomp Xbox 360 with JRPG offerings. Not really a herculean feat given the near dormant status of the genre relative to previous gens.

I had 360 and never went online much. I mainly played the fantastic WRPGs it got. Mass Effect 1& 2, Oblivion (my friend sold the dream on that), Skyrim, Dragon Age Origins. I did play some shooters, arcade games, and capcom games too.

7th gen was a relatively bleak time for the genre with the shimmering beacon of hope being Xenoblade Chronicles I guess but I never played (Persona 5 was cross gen :P).

I can enthusiastically recommend Enchanted Arms. It is by no measure the best 360 JRPG, but what it does have is Crazy Pizza.

I still don't know what this game was supposed to be but I am here for it. The characters were...wild.
It still feels like a fever dream every time I pick it back up.

I've said it before and I'll say it again;

The Final Fantasy XIII trilogy is a goddamn masterpiece. No I will not be taking criticism. Get high and play it again, dammit.

Hate the FF xiii as some of the worst rpg's ever made, so don't agree with you there.

As for enchanted arms, it's not well explained ingame but basically since there are some spoilers here, i'll tag it.
Golem war happened, the damage got so severe that the scientists at the time invented the devil golems to "restore the world back to how it was before the war" once the world recovered, the mc became the host for the control golem, aka the one that restarts the world, the final fight is the mc who gained the ability to absorb golem power thanks to having devil golem cells of the control golem (golems are something biomechanical, not purely mechanical) which allows him to absorb golems power, including of the control golem, they fight the control golem and prevent the "restoration of the world at the destruction of the current".
Devil golems are proper, sane AI, they are fulfilling their task, the task given to them is to restore the world and the control golem by any means required.
The current people of the world are the decendants of the survivors of the golem war.

Yes that all makes sense. The game is still exceptionally weird. The whole thing. It's such a serious premise coated in a thick layer of insanity.

That's what makes the game fun to be honest.
The ps3 version is overall better than the 360 version due to the additions and the upgraded soundtrack, but it doubles down on some of the insanity (like adding a optional dancing minigame).

As for the updated soundtrack, the original soundtrack is still there, but it adds a few new ones and upgrades some of the original soundtrack with better orchestration or sometimes vocals, here's one of the new tracks added to the ps3 version.

If anyone wants a gamerip of the ps3 version's soundtrack let me know, it's old but i have it on my hard drive, though not all of the tracks are tagged.

Back during my 360 days Last Remnant was my favorite JRPG. I didn't even play Lost Odyssey until a year ago. I did enjoy my time in Lost Odyssey mostly up to the point where I lost interest. I reached the dungeon where you had to switch between 2 parties to complete the puzzles to advance and the game chooses who is in which party. It's a feature I really hate in JRPGs when it happens. And before someone says I should power through the dungeon and finish the game, already lost my save and access to the game since I sold my Xbox Series X that I had it digitally on :p

The pc and ps4 versions of last remnant are the best versions of that game, just an fyi.

Maybe one year I will get a PS4 again, semi tempted to buy a PS4 Pro again to mainly use a pseudo 4k blu-ray player. I also have a huge digital library that I built up including Last Remnant that I no longer have access to after selling my PS5. Don't see it on Steam

completing the sidequests in order to unlock The Fallen fight is what imo grant to the Last Remnant the first place

epic fight, epic boss
