Favorite Video Game Locations To Chill At

Final Fantasy XV - Lestallum
Bustling with life and culture, yet cozy enough to not make one to anxious. Perfect for grabbing a bite without making Ingis cook again.
Cyberpunk 2077 - Any high rooftop
An absolutely stunning world, as intriguing as it is dystopian. Sometimes you just have to hop up, admire the grungy streets and neon lights, and appreciate all the fun you're having living like you're dying.
Cyberpunk 2077 (Modded) - Food Vendors
I like to use a mod that let's me play the eating animation used in story dialogue whenever at like at food vendors. It serves no mechanical value, it's just nice to take a break from espionage and murder with a nice, juicy synthetic burger...is that rat tail?
Dark Souls 2 - Majula
The soft sand under your feet, aching from all that dodge rolling and getting clipped by bullshit because you still need to level adaptability, the calming sound of the waves, the ocean breeze in your hair. The comfort of familiar faces as you do business and discuss your adventure thus far. No other game in the Souls lineage really gives you a village like this to return to, even if it's seen better days.
GTA San Andreas - Los Santos Beach
The sand under your feet, aching from stomping random pedestrians into the pavement. The calming sound of people screaming. The ocean breeze in your hair as you drive a motorcycle over people sunbathing, as the sun sets over the water, ending another day of mayhem.
Palworld - Your home base
After a long day of collecting materials, enslaving animals in tiny balls, and fighting factions marginally less crooked than you, it's nice to sit down and enjoy a filling herb roasted craprity, admiring the work of your beloved pals. Seeing the smiles on even the most monstrous pal's face as you show your pride in them with food and pet- OH COME ON I JUST FIXED THAT TABLE! AND YOU MADE CHILLET CRY! THAT'S IT! YOU TOUCHED MY STUFF AND MY BABIES, YOU'RE DEAD!

PSO's episode 2 has such an absurdly cozy atmosphere. I find all of that game endearing, but episode 2 just takes the cake as far as the cozy aesthetics go!

Lumbridge in Old School Runescape is another stellar hangout spot. I can sit there and chat with people for hours without a care in the world. Whether I'm meeting someone new, organizing a skilling session, trying to stop someone from getting scammed or scheming for some big deals, there's always something fun goin on!

Final Fantasy X from Besaid Island up until you hit Guadosalam is a real treat. Everything feels so lighthearted and optimistic as you watch Tidus slowly gain the trust and affection of all his new friends and you begin Yuna's pilgrimage. Once you hit Guadosalam the game takes a dark turn via revelations about a couple specific characters, and it only gets darker as you go on. Brilliantly paced game, but that stretch from Besaid through Djose is almost unmatched in terms of coziness.

Final Fantasy VII also deserves a spot here, specifically for the music alone. No soundfont or ost hits me with nostalgia the way that ost does. Doesn't matter when or where I hear it or what part of the game I'm at, it immediately envelopes me like a warm hug and brings me to a happier, simpler place.

Kingdom Hearts 1 is another ultra cozy game. KH1, 2 and BBS are all super duper comfy, but KH1's far lighter atmosphere and as-of-yet unformed greater plot make it a much more innocent journey than what Sora and company would encounter later in the franchise. Though I will say that Kingdom Hearts 2's intro with Roxas is one of the greatest, coziest, most nostalgia and bittersweet sections of any piece of media I have ever witnessed. It is flawless, no game has an intro better than KH2's imo.

The Biotechnica Flatts in Cyberpunk 2077, getting away from all the noise in the city feels so right, but I still want to see it.

Clock Town in Majora's Mask is probably the video game location I've spent the most time chilling in.

I've always been fascinated at the Bayside area in GTA:SA ...
Would've been a better hangout place if it had it's own safe house
