I loved this video! Found it after his Cabela's videos and its amazing. The Mystery of the Druids by Mandalore gaming is one of the funniest hours I've spent watching a man breakdown a completely insane adventure game of dubious quality. Its a game ostensibly about a man investigating a druid themed murder case, but it's does all the normal adventure game stuff to normal people who all rightfully treat him like a crazy psycho who can't be trusted.
I watch that one every year, so good.nvm this one might be my favourite
Holy shit! I'd never seen this video before! This is awesome. I'm 99% sure the reason the video is not reaching a million views yet is because it does not have voice over. Most people can only digest the entirety of a long video essay while they're doing something else, but when the video requires you to read, that become impossible.I'm sick of almost all video essays, most of them have this deep/intellectual pretentious way of presenting things that many times are subjective or outright don't make sense.
But if there is one i enjoy it's the ones on this channel: https://www.youtube.com/@Mystic_Ode
And this one which is one of my favorite videos of all time, about my favorite band of all time
CADDICRUS BOUNS ROUNDYou should watch Caddicarus. His video essays are really funny.
CADDICRUS BOUNS ROUND
Big fan of Ahoy too. It's funny because back then I made a topic about Video Essays.
Jokes aside Ahoy made good videos.
I'm a person who loves video essays. I'll spend hours watching these deep dives into my favorite games in the Metal Gear franchise, but I also enjoy using them as an introduction to games I've never played before.
SteakBentley and AskYourUncle are my favorite creators, what are yours?

You reminded me of alkor from diablo 2 when he says "ormus been speaking in riddles for years I think he does because he has nothing intelligent to say" applies to most video essays toomost essays i have seen just ramble on and use big words or long sentences to deceive me into thinking the author of the essay has made a point, i think this is true for most "longform" analysis videos, i do not understand their popularity
His videos are so qualitative that I cannot call them essays but more like documentaries.Big fan of Ahoy too.
I kinda dislike how Uni/College (and even H.S. to a lesser extent) tries to force having like 500-700 words essays (or 5000 characters) so people will bloat them with "however" "perhaps" and other paraphrases instead of getting to the point and assuming that the more complex a word is the better it will sound even if in most of the cases they'll get misused so it would make 0 sense in the sentence. You reminded me of alkor from diablo 2 when he says "ormus been speaking in riddles for years I think he does because he has nothing intelligent to say" applies to most video essays too![]()
It's the same syndrome with movies where people thought that we need moves as long as TLotR and Nolan to be systematically better...The rise of popularity of long form content looks like a thing caused by tiktok short form content , I could be wrong about it but it feels like people glorify long form content because "its long its must be of high quality"
The shorter sometimes the better best videos I find in YT are usually around 10-30 minutes mark gets to the point quick and gives you what you want straight away instead of going through the history of car manufacturing and explaining how all conflicts in the 90s would effect the game. His videos are so qualitative that I cannot call them essays but more like documentaries.
I'll always remember this one
