For nostalgia id have to say spider-man 2 on PS2, but I sort of enjoy the gba version too. Also both ps1 titles were cool (Bring back Monster Ock)

The original Spider-Man 2 remains a great time for web-slinging. Other games get close, but none have the same amount of physics control which makes it stand out even after all this time.

Nothing compares to it. When you combine the combat (which was fantastic) and agility /swinging mechanics, bounce off walls (dodge into wall then press the attack button) and web swing kicks etc it's literally you playing what you see in the movies.

I've played every Spiderman from every generation some were good others less good but I couldn't say which was the best every part was unique to me . What I would like now is a game that only has to do with Venom.

necroposting to say Ultimate Spider-man is the best one. Played through it so many times as a kid, can quote the intro cutscene by heart. Graphics still look beautiful to this day, really captures the comic book style. Overall it's a more streamlined version of Spider-man 2 (2004), for better or worse. Combat is better and more fluid, web swinging you have a little less control but is still very satisfying. Venom sections are sick and really remind of of Hulk Ultimate Destruction. My only complain is I wish it was longer (or at least got a proper sequel).

Also some of the free roaming tracks randomly get stuck in my head from time to time

PSX Spider-Man is still the definitive one for me. The one that I tried the hardest to love and just couldn't was Maximum Carnage. I beat my head against that game so many times, and never even got halfway.

I haven't played them all but I really like the original PS1 game from Neversoft. Insomniac's Spider-Man annoyed me for several reasons. One being that it was just a rehash of the Batman Arkham games. Two being that I hated the Mary Jane stealth sections. And three being that at a certain point in the game it seemed like you couldn't ever run into enemies without at least one of them having some kind of firearm or weapon that they could shoot at you and it just got annoying constantly dodging incoming fire when trying to fight enemies. I hate when a game has you engaging in melee combat while some jerks keep shooting at you like those ninjas in NInja Gaiden II with the exploding shuriken.
