Your first point contradicts your second, because that sounds like the best cartoon ever made. ? While I generally do prefer faithful adaptations, I must admit that these cheesy old completely nonsensical ones are really awesome, too.
I will say that the Pac-Man christmas special is probably better than most 80s cartoon specials. Both on a legit and on a joking level.
 
Of course its the masterclass in storytelling that was Netflix's Resident evil.

Pokemon and Edgerunners. Pokemon was also my first anime and for many years I didn't even know that it was based on a game ?
