We have been getting lots of Television media based on video games since the early 80s. Some were good, some were bad, But they gave us some silly humor and fun adventures with our favorite characters. So what were some of your favorite Video game TV series?

Some of my favorite television shows based on a video game were The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Sonic X.

I tend to avoid them since they’re rarely good, but I did thoroughly enjoy the Fallout show, and I unironically think the old Zelda cartoon is pretty charming.

The TMNT: Shredder's Revenge cartoon is pretty damn faithful. Very rarely you get to see your videogame waifu animated and represented this well.

Awesome music, great great animation, got Tails perfectly, it was made with CD in mind which is one of best games, PERFECT balance of cartoony and serious, Metal Sonic is a pervert and Sonic hits his balls on a metal pole

Pretty good, I would've loved to see something like it with Klonoa, looks and feels very 80s

The demons look bland but I am glad they gave Dante his DMC1 outfit and set it in between 3 and 4, so it's its own thing; Lady looks great too, now if only they got her actual voice actress from the game
I also Really liked the brief glimpse into Dante's sorrowful side, the one he hides from everyone else, just him thinking to himself quietly. It's also one of the few times you ever see him drinking.

I agree that the Sonic movies should be like the OVA, because it's overlooked and the backgrounds follow the designs of the games. I also wish the Animal Crossing Movie had a proper series that follow the slice of life adventures of Ai, Rosie and Margie with new adventures, events and surprises from the games.

Currently my favorites would be The Last of Us, Castlevania and Arcane. Digimon (especially Tamers) will also always hold a special place in my heart. I was a 90s kid and I'd eat up any video game movie or TV show that I could during that time.

Yo! I bought DMC on Bluray on a whim one day and was pleasantly surprised.

Probably the anime for Dragon Warrior that aired here in the early 90s. I don't know how long it originally was, but I think we got 13 episodes here? It was pretty good.

I also, for whatever reason, enjoyed the King Koopa show that aired at the same time as the Super Mario Bros Super Show. It was like a live action thing with kids in the audience and a guy in a king koopa costume, with older cartoons interspersed? I want to say it was like some of that 1930s "all these flowers are singing" happy ass cartoons, but it's been forever since I've seen anything other than the intro. Apparently the guy who played king koopa, threatened a kid who'd written in or something, and then it got pulled from the airwaves.

As a kid, I hated all the old cartoons that ditched the story, characterization, and mood of the games in favor of boomer humor and "original" ideas. It felt like I was being talked down to rather than being presented with something made by someone who actually enjoyed the games as well. The first game cartoon I respected (didn't really watch, but gave it props) was Pokémon. (Sonic SatAM came close, but still felt off to me.) Really, anime saved the game cartoon genre from the cesspool of cynical cash grabs (although it sometimes dips into this itself, especially with anything Pokémon-like).

These days, I enjoy Castlevania, though season 3 was mostly a letdown. Not sure how I feel about the most recent season, either, as it felt a little off. (Rondo of Blood is my favorite entry in the series, so I'm going to be pretty critical of how they handle it.) Fallout was really good, though. I'm looking forward to the next season.

Like the one for Q*Bert where they... like went to high school or something, and all the bad guys were 50s-style greasers? Or the Dragon's Lair one where you'd get a choice at a commercial break, and then when it came back it would be like, "if you picked this, you fucked up" and it would show Dirk die before showing the right response

they're like that because there was hardly any lore for he games made in the 80's. the super mario bros show was mainly parodies of other shows and movies. the best one was "Star Koopa". best line of the episode: "May the Pasta be with you."

what does star wars have to do with mario? nothing. is Darth Koopa the best Sith Lord? you can bet your sweet bippy that he is.
