Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X-2
Final Fantasy XIII
Grandia
All of the various Mario rpgs and games with similar combat like Underhero and South Park Stick of Truth
Haven
The Legend of Heroes series
South Park The Fractured But Whole

What are yours?

Probably a bunch if I thought about it more!
First one that comes to mind is the stacking system in Disgaea games, where you can have up to 10 of your units from a stack and basically act as one really big unit.

I like turn based both with and without active time battle. Final Fantasy and Grandia do that perfectly! Same with Skies, Wild Arms, ect. Not too crazy about action RPGs where you have to wait for a meter to fill before attacking again like the Mana series. I think Illusion of Gaia handled that style slightly better. I do like action RPGs where you can swing a sword with a button press though! Zelda style, ya know? Strategy games are my jam too! Shining Force games, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, ect. Games where I can play like chess meets JRPG. Even better when there's different levels of elevation. "It's over! I have the high ground!"

Speaking of Fire Emblem, I do also love that support system thing it has going on. Where two units will fight better when near eachother as they build up their relationship. Depending on the units, sometimes unlocking their child as an additional unit if they reach S tier.

A few other RPGs have similar "relationship" style mechanics, but not to the same degree as I've seen in FE. Games like: Agarest, Neptunia, Valkyria Chronicles.

Agreed! You would probably also like Langrisser 2. Downhill charge! ^_^

My one and true love is free roaming turn based (ATP system) combat from FFXII. Can run away from battles with no loading or result screen to slow down, no random encounters, can fully explore the world or look at enemies, with a free camera, and no space restriction in effectiveness/hit chance other than having to move into range, no movement restrictions. Oh yeah and you can customize your computer controlled party members than always have to set a command for each action but you can instantly take control with no slow down and switch out party members at any time.

- tales of vesperia and graces f (gameplay wise), you can do actual insane combos
- xenogears
- grandia 3
- clair obscure 33
- ff12 and ff13
- xenoblade 1
- the last story
- cold steel 3 and 4
- octopath traveler
- kh2
- lost odyssey
- resonance of fate
- the last remnant
- vagrant tory
- rogue galaxy
- .hack series

and few others

Growlanser is fun, but we are talking about games not about combat systems. I mean, ATB, turn based, action, mixed, etc. That would be done using a poll, right? :)

My favourite is ATB without free movement.

Chrono Trigger
Sea of Stars
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Tales of Vesperia

I like the active battle and being able to move freely around the battlefield.

ALL of the Mario and Luigi ones
Paper Mario 1 and TTYD
SMT's Press Turn
Undertale and Deltarune
Chrono Trigger (At times i wihs i could move them manually)
A really obscure one called Emerald Dragon

LISA and Hylics. Performing combo attacks by rapidly pressing the letters on your keyboard is always so satisfying and watching all the on screen first person animations play either when you perform a spell or use and item is like ASMR for your eyes…but actually comfortable and interesting to watch :)

I love the unique combat system that Final Fantasy XII and Xenoblade have. Love the balance of menu-scrolling and positioning for attacks.
