I recently discovered Mortal Kombat XXL and I'm literally making this thread so I don't forget to download it when I get home

But I also love Project Unleashed

The Might and Magic merge mod that combines 6/7/8 into one game is a hell of an experience for anyone into that series or style of game. I can't recommend it enough for anyone who's played any of the three games it combines.

Control freak for super metroid is a controls overhaul. changes what buttons do and makes wall jumping more like zero mission

Smash Remix.
Sonic 3 Complete.
I feel like I'm forgetting a lot of other ones. Brain not working atm. ::nervous-prinny

Tactics Ogre: One VIsion w/ HD UI mod. Tactics Ogre Reborn is a brilliant reiteration of a classic, but "One Vision" has become my preferred way to play an already great game. Plus with the HD User Interface mod, it looks and feels like a game that could be released on Steam (thank God for PPSSPP.)

Is this a mod for mortal kombat X?

Kind of an overhaul mod but ReThawed mod for tony hawk American wasteland is a phenomenal mod!

Fallout: Tale of Two Wastelands
Basically, 3 and New Vegas are one game, and you can complete Fallout 3 and later go to the Mojave to continue the story in New Vegas using your Fallout 3 character and vice versa. The restored content mod for Kotor 2 is another one that I recommend; it restores a lot of the missing content and is basically the obligatory way to 100% enjoy the game to its fullest.

Probably all the various mods that overhaul Doom and Quake into new or more advanced games. Stuff like Paradise, Heartland, or Eviternity for Doom, and Arcane Dimensions for Quake.

What constitutes an overhaul mod?
fuzzy line but I'd say where enough is changed to where it feels like a significantly different game. there are labels like gameplay overhaul and graphical overhaul to further differentiate.

I've played a lot of sin of mana. it's a pretty extensive gameplay overhaul of seiken densetsu 3 that pushes the game probably beyond what is wise. There are a lot of questionable decisions and at time I want to perform a 'lvl. 3 tech' on the mod author, but something about it scratches an itch.

Streets of Rage has tons of ultimate overhaul mods but at this point it's up to your personal preference so no particular one is better.
My favs are easily the tmnt and robocop ones because they actually make the characters play like how they did in their base games. TMNT of Rage remix genuinely feels WAY better than the base game to play IMO thanks to every character being able to run and the more powerful movesets.

Shoutouts to Streets of Rage Syndicate Wars as well. More people need to talk about how much of a coding marvel that thing is like.
Coding every enemy and boss in the game to be fully playable is one thing
Coding in Zan and Roo from Streets of Rage 3 is another
But adding in a fully playable Adam with original sprites that perfectly replicate Ayana Koshiro's art style??? like oh my god was this coded by 1950's movie aliens or something HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE

The "River City Girls of Rage" is also incredibly good, though was a bit of a pain to find the correct rom.

Arcane Dimensions and Eviternity gotta be some of the best mods for games in general. Real good stuff

Legend Remix with the Music Restoration mods for Yakuza Kiwami 2 really improve it as a remake. Hearing North Menace kick in as I hit full speed directional combos on Korean gangsters is peak gaming 100%.

Doom 3 Redux really makes the original pop, new graphics and higher quality sounds bring out the horror style well.

Half Life and Half Life 2 MMod make the games more in tune with modern shooters, while keeping the classic shooter style intact pretty well.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma Black brings that new Sigma 2 port as close as possible to the Xbox 360 version as he could get. Beware of this one though. Fiend Busa kinda liked adding shit where he didn't need to so it's really tough. I only ever beat it on Warrior, and I've beat all the games on Master Ninja.

Whatever the mod is for DMC3 on PC that adds style switching was so good that Capcom added it to the Switch port, that's all I gotta say about that.

And there's a bunch more. But these are some that are notable for me.

I don't remember Eviternity being anything other than an extremely good Megawad with some slight tweaks... does it count as an overhaul thing?
