What is your favorite J-horror flick? How many times have you watched it? Did it make you lose sleep?

(Discussion of horror movies from other Asian countries is a-okay!)

Kairo (Pulse), its a very cool concept (for the time), very quaint concept about the internet, and i like how it handles isolation and loneliness.

Do not watch the american version.
I've learned to avoid American remakes of foreign movies thanks to The Ring and the One Missed Call remake, those were as good as a giant pot of hot dog water.

Pulse has definitely been on my radar since I started getting into J-horror, I heard great things!

The Rainbow Man ( 1949 )
Fatal Frame ( 2014 )
Sada ( If that counts? )
Tokyo Gore Police
Tetsuo: the Iron Man (1989)
Machine Girl, introduced me to the band of the same name too lol.

Edit: Lust of the dead, shit film but I think it was my introduction to the genre.

Even though it's technically horror comedy, Hausu is simply an amazing experience on the horror genre and art direction is one of my favorite in movies.

Hausa is an absolutely fascinating movie. It’s bizarre in a way that’s hard to describe, from the fact its opening scenes are shot like a commercial to the insane 4th wall breaks it does. It’s a fun watch, but I’m not sure even now I understand it.

Machine Girl counts as a horror flick? In that case, I second it

Tetsuo is definitely a masterpiece, when I watched it for the first time my jaw was just wide open the whole time through because of the sheer delightful insanity I was viewing, very visceral and raw.

Fatal Frame is definitely one I'm interested in as I'm currently playing through the second game, looks like a very good time.

Has anyone watched Sweet Home from 1989 [スウィートホーム]?
I have not, but I'm definitely interested in it as the tie-in game for the famicom was a contribution to Resident Evil's existence!

So "Fatal Frame" was it's own actual movie huh? I've only known about the PS games.
Was it about "Ghost Photography" like the games claim to be? That was a fad in the 90's where I live.

Noroi the Curse was phenomenal. Some others I recommend are The Cure, and The Cult
Me too, i watched the thing expecting nothing at all... I was actually very surprised when i found mysef open mouthed at the end. Fantastic movie.

I've watched it a couple of months age, while it has many interesting aspects like the use of shadows, it's a shame we do not have and HD release of it nowadays

Whaaat? Never knew a Fatal Frame film existed. Good to know, might watch.
Also, what's the thing with tetsuo? I found some people call it a "Cyberpunk" movie, which interested me a lot firstly but i just couldn't watch it whole.

Yep, it revolves around a school setting and is a pretty thriller.

Unrelated but W Beatrice pfp

currently reading the manga. i agree, the movie is great but so much of the story is missing
I've read that the movie was basically 1st issue and last issue condensed together. (not sure what separate manga chapters are called.) There are branching plots in the Manga, right? And the movie just focused around the relationship between Tatsuo and Kaneda?

The movie is basically the first two volumes and a first draft idea of what the mangaka wanted to do with Tetsuo in the end. The manga is significantly different from the anime and in how it goes.
