favorite heavy metal and death metal

Time for something that's perhaps a bit obscure seeing as I haven't seen the band mentioned. If you like Priest's Painkiller you'll like this one.

My favourite is Blind Guardian, for their 90's, early noughties output. Nightfall in Middle Earth is my favourite metal album, and Somewhere Far Beyond was great too. A night at the opera too. The compositions are good, but I dislike the muffled way they sound. On the cusp of sounding very satisfying.

Usually, I prefer Thrash metal and black metal, but if I have to choose a death metal band, I would say Children of bodom. I know it's melodic death, but it's death after all.
