I had a Genesis as a kid and it was one of my least favorite consoles, oof. All I remember is a lot of games being extremely challenging (including all of the Sonic games, so I lost any interest in Sonic games since then). I'm a big JRPG fan and the Genesis doesn't really have any that stand out, while its competitor, the SNES, had so many classics. Anyways, here's what I remember enjoying:

Ultimate Mortal Kombat Trilogy
The Adventures of Batman & Robin
Earthworm Jim
ToeJam and Earl

There's a few mentioned in this thread that I need to try. Here's my list

Shinobi III
NBA Jam T.E.
Mega Man: The Wily Wars
Rock n Roll Racing - SNES version is better though
The Lost Vikings
Vampire Killer
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Bare Knuckle II
Bare Knuckle III
Earthworm Jim
Earthworm Jim II
Contra: The Hard Corps (Japanese version)
Demons of Asteborg
Sub-Terrania
The Adventures of Batman and Robin
Vectorman
Blades of Vengeance
Rocket Knight Adventures
Comix Zone - Used to hate this...until I learned how you're supposed to play through it.
Castle of Illusion
World of Illusion
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist

If you're into RPGs you should check out Landstalker. Its one of the MegaDrive's standout RPGs imo

Well it's Fantastic Dizzy. Great graphics and quite well crafted.
I've been playing the Master System version of this a bit lately. Its a big step up from the C64 versions lmao
