The SEGA GENESIS was the console I owned the longest, and so I also got to try a ton of games for it. Some were good, some were horrible... and some were kinda there.

Which ones were your favorites?

I used to stay up all night playing International Super Star Soccer Deluxe and Lethal Enforcers II. Road Rash 3 was also a super popular multiplayer game for when I had friends over. And then there was stuff like G-Lock: Air Battle and Desert Strike, which were "lucky rentals" that I ended up buying.

What about you?

I was way more into SNES in those days, but I got a Genesis kind of late into its lifespan and my favorites were Sonic & Knuckles and Mutant League Football.

Road Rash were my favorites.
Always a pleasure meeting a fellow enjoyer of the high speed, skull-bashing ways.

BTW: SEGA CD & 32X games count, too. They were basically add-ons.

I never had a Genesis as a kid, so I don't really have nostalgia to go off of, but from what I played through emulation over the years I remember really loving Shining Force 1+2, Shining in the Darkness, Landstalker, Thunder Force IV, Beyond Oasis and Assault Suit Leynos.

That console is like a treasure trove to me, so much fantastic stuff I missed out on!

Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Gunstar Heros and Wonderboy in Monsterworld and Mega Turrican are some of my absolute favorites on the console

Genesis... a system i didn't have that much access to, primarily memories of playing on a DOS beta emulator back in 1994 on a 133Mhz machine with whatever roms i could download via dialup at the time.

Though I'll have to probably narrow it down to very simple criteria, what i had the most fun with, or played the most.

Played the most: Phantasy Star 4, Shadow Run
Most fun: Shinobi 3

This is an easy answer for me. 100% Gunstar Heroes. Probably the best run and gun game Ive ever played....heck, its probably my favorite game of all time. Glad it got to be on compilations since it was exclusively a Genesis game. A must have/must play if you have a genesis (or can play it on the SEGA compilations)

I also really enjoy Rolling Thunder 2. Specifically the genesis port over the arcade. Very stylish and great music.

The Phantasy star games (altough 1 is not on Sega genesis), Sonic 1 (I really love how different is compared to what came after), the Streets of Rage trilogy, Golden Axe, Splatterhouse 2, Contra Hard Corps, Ys 3 and Monster World IV

Phantasy Star 2 and 4 have always been at the top of my list.
When I was young I used to really like General Chaos, Battletech, Road Rash, and there was this one Home Alone licensed game I thought was really cool where you'd zip around the neighborhood on your sled, going into houses to set up traps, I thought that game was rad.
Now that I'm older I also appreciate a lot of the shooters on the system, and I'd probably put gleylancer in my top 3, but you wouldn't catch me playing that kind of game when I was a kid.

I had both Mighty Morphin Power Rangers games on the Genesis growing up and I still consider them really great to this day. I think it's interesting how the fighter was inferior to the SNES version, but the beat 'em up inspired by the movie was way better on Sega hardware. For the time they both honestly had stellar graphics, and the sound design, oh man.

Kid Chameleon is some absolute BS but I love that game to death. It's just so damn stylish, it's the most genesis genesis game to ever genesis.
Rocket Knight Adventures also goes hard, and is probably a "better" game by most metrics, so that's a close second.
Rocket Knight was definitely one of my personal favorites.

I spent soooo much money hiring that one out.
