I really loved that torchic with the blazikenite and speed boost they gave out when X and Y came out. didn't really feel the same playing through without it later on.

I think mine is Jiraichi, purely because it was the only one I could remember having as a kid. I suppose maybe mine wasn't technically an event Pokemon? as I got it from finishing Pokemon Channel on the Gamecube and transferring it to my GBA copy of Pokemon Ruby.

I never had Celebi, but I would always hear rumours at school of how you could get Celebi in the forest in Gold version.
For all the rumours, no-one at school seemed to know about it being an exclusive event thing, so I remember wandering around the shrine for ages thinking it would show up at some point

IIRC the actual Celebi "event" (As in; getting the GS ball and going to the shrine to catch Celebi) has never actually been available outside of Japan (Before the VC release of Crystal where they integrated it into the actual game). Outside of Japan, Celebi was always given out like how Mew in Gen 1 was; you go to Toys 'R' Us or something and they'd put it on your cartridge. Even in Heart Gold and Soul Silver where they had an updated version of the event with actual story, that never got an official release outside of Japan either as far as I'm aware.

One day I'm gonna do that DNS exploit thing and get one of my very own. I hate knowing that such a cool mon is locked away within the depts of my cartridge!!

The best thing about action replays back in the day for games like Diamond, Pearl and Platinum was getting access to the event Pokémon like Shaymin like a whole year early before the actual event came to your country lol. Only problem with the Celebi HG/SS event is that, while the data for it is obviously on the cartridge, I don’t think it was ever translated.

Best Buy Latias and Gamestop shiny Giratina were the only ones I ever got. Latias was a big part of my online team as support with wish. Good times.

If I've read correctly, it's still playable/doable, but in Japanese. So it'd definitely be worth a shot if I can ever be arsed to do it.
HeartGold is my favorite Pokémon game and I'd like to complete as much as possible on my save in that one.

Yeah pretty much. I think there’s a page on Serebii that has a translation of all the dialogue, so if you really want you can pull that up and read along as you play.
