The year is finally ending and and we had a lot of great animes in 2024, which one was your favorite?

Personally I can't chose a single one but I would go for Frieren and Kimi wa Maid
The former in terms of overall quality and storytelling, it was very touching and honestly a pretty solid animation

The later solely because of my love for anime maids even if the anime itself doesn't come close to behemots like DanDanDan and Frieren in terms of hype and production value
Its just a very nice and chill romance with a cute maid/ex-assassin

I don't really watch anime ,I read manga mostly so maybe DanDadan I dunno how the anime did it but the manga is sooo goood

Not easy tu pick. I’ve watched a crap ton of 12-ep shows and while I thoroughly enjoyed each, nothing particularly stood out. I suppose Senpai Wa Otokonoko but I missed the last ep while it aired so I dunno how the story ends but it was something that really resonated with me and I’d give a full rec. comedy is sadly FMA-levels of jarring so be warned.

Even though Sousou No Frieren is not my favorite, there's probably a good reason why it's at the top right now

But what I did watch was Dandadan and…it was chaotic af (I love it!)

Frieren is also my favorite. Everyone is talking about DanDaDan, but another story about teenagers with superpowers and vulgar humor just can't touch me. I'm already incredibly tired of these kinds of anime.

The first episodes of Frieren are generally the best I've seen in anime in the last few years. It will be interesting to see where this goes and I REALLY hope it doesn't just continue the story of Fern/Frieren and Stark and their journey. I liked the reflections on an interesting topic based on the history of the old adventure group more, tbh.

I honestly don't really watch too much airing shows, but most of the ones I watched weren't that exciting. Dandadan, Dungeon Meshi and Hibike! Euphonium 3 didn't do it for me. Acro Trip, Yuru Camp S3 and Oomuro-ke: dear sisters (I'm yet to watch dear friends) were fine, but I would not put them in favorite categories. I also see a lot of people mentioning Frieren, but I'm pretty sure that show started on 2023 so I'm not counting it.

But to at least say the ones I liked the most despite the low bar...

Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete
iu

I'm so happy this show exist, probably the closest thing to a 10/10 I watched this year. Fortunatelly a season 2 was already anounced, but I hope the author gets better soon. He's health is having it rough since the first season started.

Monogatari Series: Off & Monster Season

This one is kinda weird. I really really like the Nadeko part of the show, but all the other ones are not nearly as good. They are fine, but don't keep the hype set up by the start. The new opening is amazing though.

Mononoke: Karakasa

More Mononoke. Mononoke is cool as hell.

I didn’t actually watch it, but the trailer for that new Doraemon movie, Nobita’s Earth Symphony, looked very cute. I’ll check it out if I’m ever in the mood.

Also, I can’t believe they brought Bartender back! Who wanted a revival of that series!? I guess I should watch it because I love the original, but I’m honestly just flabbergasted that they made a full-length sequel to a 15-year-old show that only miserable mid-30s alcoholics liked. Bless!

Modern anime really sucks.

I actually watched current anime this year, not sure I've ever done that! It's just, I love the Dandadan manga, and ordinarily I don't care for adaptations, they aren't transformative or anything. Not the case here, damned if the Dandadan anime doesn't enhance the experience. The William Tell remix during the Turbo Granny chase was fantastic!

I really enjoyed Dandadan, Dunegon Meshi, NegaPosi Angler, but still need to watch a bunch of other recent stuff.

If I have to pick one, I guess it's Kaiju No. 8 since I barely have any expectations for it. I know the manga is really popular, but unlike Solo Leveling, Dungeon Meshi, and DanDaDan, I never heard of it beforehand. I haven't watched Frieren yet but I've been hearing good things about it.

Frieren is the one that kept me thinking of it after the fact. And somehow, Train to the end of the World because it was really fun. I haven't watched much else this year that was new though.

Frieren is probably the single best anime to come out in the last 5 years, so it would just feel wrong to not mention it here.

That said if you were to ask my personal favorite, while frieren would be second, i'm a massive tsukimichi fan as i've read the manga and even webnovel, i feel i have to give it to that, even if i think frieren is a overall better anime.

I'll boringly sad Dandadan for best anime of 2024 that only aired in 2024 cause it is that good.

Like some others I'm not a big anime watcher apparently. I used to consider myself quite into it but I guess I got older and the moes got blobbier, plus Isekai crap took over. General Anime just doesn't feel like it's for me anymore.

From this year I've only watched Dandadan because my GF wanted to and Dungeon Meshi because I was a huge fan of the manga. I know, pretty normie stuff.
I actually didn't realize that The Fable had started, so I gotta go check that out. Also enjoyed that Manga a lot.

I only watched Elf on a diet this year. Stopped watching regularly 12 years ago.
Read the manga, much better in the ways that matter ::eyebrows

Lol I thought the same thing. When OP said 'lot of great animes this year' I was like "Where?"
All I see is the typical crap like "That Time I Was Shot Dead By My Sexy Evil Little Sister And Reincarnated As A Low Level Character But With Cheat Codes I Solo Mid To Grand-Master And Pick Up Slime Girls In The Demon Queen's Labyrinth" and the usual color-coded Kawaii Magical Girl slop, School RomCom Harem Wish Fulfillment tripe, ever-present Shounen Jump Adaptations, and BL Bait.

No. I have specifically avoided and will continue to avoid anything that remotely resembles that kind of anime. I consider it the absolute bottom of the barrel, zero integrity or value, detritus of the medium. ::crazy

But if you like it that's cool. You're not alone it's very popular.

Oh no, i wholeheartedly Agree, it's Absolute Garbage, but sometimes. Some friends over, a Few drinks, and Some So bad it's Funny Anime is worth the Derp factor.
