Favorite Album?

From the moment I saw the commercial for GTA:SA, I was captivated by them.
The first CD I ever bought was this album.

Gang gang gang gang

Everything I've heard from Alcest has blown me away.

This might be one of the best recorded live performances I've ever seen from a band, especially their song Sapphire. Up there with Lamb of God, Pathetic at Download 2007, Slayer at K! Festival 2004 and In Flames at Sticky Fingers

Beautiful. This performance always gets me teary-eyed, there are hardly enough words to describe it.

Also, In Flames's 2002 Montreal performance isn't something to understate, either. In Flames really were on top of the world, during these days.

I am glad I am not the only Pitchshifter fan out there. :)
Heck yeah! Pitchshifter rule. Do you like their earlier stuff too, like Infotainment? and older? I have it all and it's... okay. Some good stuff for sure, but I prefer their later sound a lot more. It's a shame they're more or less gone now. They have done some shows, pretty recently even, but they haven't put out anything new for almost 20 years now and I can't see that changing, sadly.
Great taste. Big fan of that Deadsy album as well, exactly my kind of grunge. Mansion Worlds reminds me alot of stuff like Spaceman from Babylon Zoo
Oh man, you hit me with a four hit combo. Don't worry, that's a good thing in this case. First, thank you so much! There was a ton of great shit left out, but I think that gets my tastes across well enough. Second, glad to see another Deadsy fan. You're literally the first I've seen outside of the dude who introduced me to them. x) Phantasmagore is a good album too, but I've always felt that their sound on that album was more radio friendly and that it kinda lost some personality because of that.

Third, Mansion World is my favorite song by them. Nothing else to say, it's just good to see the song getting recognized. Finally, it's funny that you mention Babylon Zoo because The Boy with the X-Ray Eyes was briefly considered for my list. I do mean briefly though, in the end I'm ambivalent to more songs than I like on that album. Spaceman was a big hit for a reason though, what a great song. Too bad Babylon Zoo ended up being a one-hit wonder band. King Kong Groover wasn't particularly good, but it's a shame they ended with that.

I will always be grateful to Melon for introducing me to Death Grips.

I never expected to see someone referencing that movie, let alone the soundtrack. It was a childhood favorite of mine. Billy Zane was the best part of the movie.

As for the topic, this is basically an impossible question for me. D: I sure as hell could never pick a single album and even multiple ones are tough. Bleh. Here are a few I couldn't do without at least.

Okay, that's more than a few and I spent a really long time making that. x) Ah well, I had a nice time going over my music library and hearing songs I haven't heard in ages. I tried to avoid "Greatest Hits" albums, but the three I listed were ones I grew up with and they fit together like an album for me because of that. I also avoided soundtracks because it would have taken me the rest of the year to whittle down if I did. I'm already second guessing my picks, so I'm going to mash "Post reply" before I fuck with it more. Dx
Fellow Legion @Ian Naxieas @Crabulon undercore lives. Deadsy's Commencement was a big album for me when it released back in 2002 I was in high school around that time, seen them live, had merch, and have been a fan since. Although I equally enjoy Phantasmagore (and self-titled, various b-sides). I've been keeping track of the upcoming album Subterfugue which most likely not going to be released any time soon. At least (study for a portrait of) Napolean In Rags spontaneously appeared.

Kudos for having The Birthday Massacre, i'm torn between Violent and Nothing and Nothing since it was the first album I heard from them. Another split album from Korn, besides self-titled- Issues is my number 2. Plenty of great artists I also frequently listen to Kidneythieves, Angelspit, KMFDM, Pitchshifter, Orgy.

A fire choice! Blind Guardian WAS my HS years, I had that one on CD and every album of theirs up until a twist in the myth. I was so into power metal... I remember my father asking me dismissively: "Why do you want so much dungeons and dragons music?" ;_; Majesty is a banger on that album!

Aww yeah, rock on 3DO Duck! Yeah I was in high school when I discovered Deadsy as well. Actually, it might have even been middle school. Earlyish 2000s at least. I'm so jealous that you got to see them live, I'd love to as well. I remember being in my last year of high school when Phantasmagore dropped, they let us use CD players and such when teachers weren't speaking and I listened to that album a ton. That was also not long after I discovered Kidneythieves, Orgy and KFMDM, so they got a lot of time in my CD player too. And car. At max volume. No wonder I have tinnitus.

It was actually a pretty hard choice between Violet and Walking with Strangers for my favorite album by The Birthday Massacre. Nothing and Nowhere is a great choice too, I do prefer their sound from Violet and onwards, though that's probably because Violet was the first of their albums I heard. I've never listened to a Korn album other than Issues, but I'll have to check out, well Korn by Korn. x)

You have an awesome list as well! Without You I'm Nothing was one of the albums that was on my list but I cut it because I haven't listened to the whole thing in awhile so I'm not sure how much I'd still like it. I can't imagine I'd dislike it, Allergic (To Thoughts of Mother Earth) is still one of my top songs of all time. Bah, now I'm second guessing myself again!

If I allowed myself soundtracks and more than one album per artist, Silent Hill 1-4's soundtracks would all be up there, no questions asked. Akira Yamaoka is one of my favorite composers and has been since the first game. Even a lot of the stuff he did for the, let's say, less impressive games of the series was still great.

Joe Hisaishi is another fantastic choice. Like Akira Yamaoka with Silent Hill, I can't imagine anyone else composing Studio Ghibli films, though I do know there has been other composers. They're a perfect match. Princess Mononoke would have been my choice too. Finally, I wasn't expecting to see P.O.D. again like, ever. x) There was that window of success in 2001 with Alive and Youth of the Nation, but they seemed to drop off the face of the earth afterwards. It looks like they're still doing music though, good for them.

Anyway, keep on rocking, Sir-Ducks-a-Lot! Hope to see more from you. ::biggrin

Steal This Album, because it's my favorite to loop, and The Beautiful People by SiM as a second. The Yakuza 2 remake put me on that band.
