This is a really subjective thing, but I think we can all agree that there are some modern big-budget games we refer to as "AAA slop" even though the definition can be different for everyone.
As the topic goes, my question is; are there any games you'd define/dismiss as AAA slop that you still enjoy?

My own personal pick would probably be Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Valhalla.
I've never cared for Assassin's Creed at all, but I think these two games are really fun. They're one of the walking definitions of AAA slop though, because the games are unnecessarily massive and filled with padding, busywork content and bugs.
But I can't put them down. I love the settings and I think the general gameplay is genuinely fun. I know I'm a "fake fan" for only liking these two AC games, but I think that's why I like them, because they're open-world adventure games in cool settings, and they have a minimal amount of the present day stuff I never liked in AC. I've wanted an ancient greek adventure game since I was a little boy struggling to pick up my own spear and aspis.

How about you?
(As a reminder, this is generally meant for games you'd be quick to disparage or dismiss as specifically AAA slop, but found yourself enjoying regardless, not just any "bad" game you happened to enjoy. And please don't fight, because this is purely subjective!)

ac but only the ones i like.png

Undoubtedly Uncharted. The ps4 gow games come close. Third place be Rodger days gone or horizon. Depending on my mood.
Nice picks. I'm not sure I'd classify Uncharted as that personally, but that's the fun of this thread, I hope. :)

Trust me, it reaches that point by the 4th game. That’s when creative bankruptcy occurs, but I love the trilogy to death regardless!

If we’re going by “unsure picks” though, Battlefield V is my all time favorite 8th gen shooter! Such a smooth and wonderful game!

Hero shooters, I love Marvel Rivals
Too bad I don't have the time to play it much, and when I do have time I'd rather play something else
Also I've clocked in over 1200 hours on Dead by Daylight, so I guess that's also my favourite kind of slop
On further note, does DBD count? I mean, it might now, but back then it was an indie game.

Probably because like 400 people bought it, and I assume even less has it as their favorite.
I'm even more suprised that there was at least 400 people that bought it lmao

Literally impossible to. Game wasnt even playable for a week.
I'm suprised it can even run lmao

TIL that there is a word, "AAA slop" and what it means; glad to learn something new everyday ?

Call me a caveman but that's cuz I'm a retrogamer, never touched a newly made game since 2015; I'd rather play a 20-year old game (yes, never played the new SRWs with SE Asia region english translations; rather wait for the old handhelds to be translated...)

Based

I played Biohazard 8 and at least the guns were very good and I like the eastern european setting

Even though I dont get why it didnt play like 7's Not A Hero expansion with the aiming down sight and Bio4sque qte attacks

I enjoyed Battlefront 2 when they removed the lootboxes, massive battles and playing as regular infantry is something i like in general.

And, i do like No Man's Sky, i think it had one of the best redemption arcs in gaming, its actually really fun to play now.

I can't get myself to hate The Elder Scrolls, as much as I despise Bethesda. Though let's be real, I do intend for Skyblivion to be the final Elder Scrolls game I ever play, and that's a huge fan overhaul mod. It did get me to buy Skyrim Special Edition though, so... ech, I've been itching to replay Skyrim anyway.

Fuck ESO though. But to be honest I'm just not an MMO person. Not even FF14 could get me to play it for more than like a month. :v

I don't know if it counts but Dark Souls Remastered has been an obsession of mine for the past month. I'm surprised I hadn't delved much into the series till this year.

Everything after the ps2 is "new to me" even though the xbox360 becomes a retroconsole this year...

When I think of AAA slop, I'm definitely thinking of that open world kinda sandboxy action with light rpg elements genre lol. I've had some fun playing the later Far Cry titles with a friend just running around the map blowing shit up. Also Ghost Recon: Breakpoint was a good time with a few friends. Not bad games at all (the Far Cry games have pretty fun action movie plots, though nothing profound or amazing), but I don't think I'd get a lot of mileage out of these games without the multiplayer aspect though lol.

My opinion on modern games like this means little, because my obsolete ass is just playing Lufia 2 and Katamari of late lmao.

That's true, I really enjoyed Far Cry 5. The setting alone was enough to interest me, and it's fun to blow rednecks up in crazy ways.
Ubisoft sure managed to appeal to me for some reason around 2018-2020 lol.

Call Of Duty online multiplayer, probably. Although not the new games, just the older ones still for the ones that still support it. Was kinda' semi-regularly playing BO2 on Wii U until that got turned off when Nintendo killed the online. It's probably the only mindless kinda' slop I'll bother with in games these days.

The Uncharted games (except 3), and I don't know if Skyrim counts...
Probably? I'm an Elder Scrolls fanboy who didn't like it at launch, then it grew on me several years later because it was easy to immerse yourself and turn off your brain. I see people referring to it as one of the catalyst games for modern AAA slop.
Not sure I agree about that but to each their own. ::peacemario
