I was bored and played around in aseprite when I came up with a few designs for a favicon for the site.
Simon Belmont is fine and all, but I wondered if it might be nice with something a little more personalized?

If you don't know what a favicon is, it's the little sprite that shows up next to the tab of a site, and also when you bookmark it, it currently looks like this:

Here are some simple logos/icons I did. They have to be super limited due to the size of favicons, but maybe it'd be fun? Of course there are even more ways to do it, I'm just showing these off as a concept, but they should all work.
If you'd rather have the Simon Belmont we have right now it's totally fine as this was just a little thing I threw together in minutes out of boredom!

These are made with the colors of the logo. I only added the shaded bevel parts to make it pop out a tiny bit more. I'm particularly fond of the rightmost one, myself.

Very pretty, but it needs to be squared.
I know they have to be either 16x16 or 32x32 but if they are transparent around they should still work, as long as the actual file is 32x32 squared, I think? I see favicons in my bar that have "narrow" icons and I assumed that's how they did it.
Here's a few examples with varying outline color:

Of course, I can make them entirely square if it's impossible.

btw I remember when initially set the favicon I made an SVG of our current one.
And I know I spent quite a long time looking for a way to properly convert a PNG to SVG.
Most sites on the first pages of google do horrible jobs.
But eventually I managed to make this: https://retrogametalk.com/data/assets/logo/favicon.svg

The problem is I don't remember how I did that...

I can export them as .svg from aseprite. Gimme a minute and I'll fix 'em.

There we go, I think these should work.

Nice! Glad to hear you like it!

The repo is still using the old favicon (and logo).
