Overview:

Introducing F-Zero MF – A Fresh Spin on a Timeless Classic!

Get ready to rediscover the thrill of high-speed racing with F-Zero MF – a brand-new ROM hack featuring 10 tracks, reworked with care to offer a slightly tougher, more dynamic challenge. Every course is based on the original F-Zero layouts, but now with subtle tweaks that keep things fresh without feeling unfair.

What truly sets F-Zero MF apart is its custom AI-assisted soundtrack, bringing a bold new energy to the races. These reimagined tracks, giving each race a unique vibe that complements the fast-paced action.

Prefer the classics? No worries – F-Zero MF also includes a version without the new soundtrack, keeping things authentic for purists who like it old-school.

Whether you’re an F-Zero fan looking for a new experience or just want to hear your favorite tracks in a new light, F-Zero MF is the perfect blend of nostalgia and novelty.

RB's Notes: There are two versions, one with MSU tracks and one without.

I don't know. I just copy-pasted whatever the author had there.

It certainly gave the game a new look, especially because of the changes to the tracks. About the remade track, I don't know if I loaded it correctly into the emulator, but it seems cool to me. Thank you for your work and dedication.

Oddly enough, I think an 'AI enhanced' MSU-1 pack might be fantastic compared to a sampling of packs done by random fans. Like it might not try to change the wheel (Spoiler: I was wrong as hell). A semi-rant follows:

F-Zero in particular is plagued with some very questionable MSU-1 soundtrack addons. Some of them are downright tone-deaf, bereft-of-rhythm abortions. But one of the tracks in a particular pack might be really good (but still have bits that irritate me) and respect the original material more than it tries to remix it at 10000000000 bpm (because we all went through that phase). So, the solution seems to be to mix and match a pack of good tracks a-la-carte style. Just too lazy to bother...so far.

Anyways, now I guess I need to check out yet another MSU-1 pack for F-Zero (this one). I feel this game in particular demands a very high amount of respect for the original music it is 'enhancing'. All this said, you are of course *not* missing out if you just stick to the original, amazing music. I just like messing with MSU-1; it feels like what the cancelled SNES CD addon might have added to the system.

Edit: tried this one, and didn't get past Mute City. Some weird bass + horns only part came on and I crashed and died lmao. Definitely sounds like an AI track where the objective was to destroy any looping. Ai dissected the tracks and had a 'jam session', basically. And the 4-3-6-3 vs the original 3-3-6-3 at bootup set the tone for failure (if you have an ear for it, can't miss it). Can't recommend beyond being a one-off curiosity thing. The hack itself seems alright.

Edit2: not philosophically against AI music per sé. Or texture packs for that matter.
