not sure if this is the right place for this thread, oops if so

was wondering if anyone could offer some advice, i've been trying to run Eye of the Beholder, specifically the sega CD version, on ScummVM but i'm not quite sure how scumm handles .bin and .cue files?
I'm using ScummVM 2.9.0 (standalone not thru retroarch) and when I try to add the game to the game list it doesn't recognize the files. The compatibility page for the game says the sega CD version should work, im wondering if the version offered here at the Repo isn't compatible? I've only just started using scummvm today tho so i'm not sure if i'm just doing something wrong lol

Looks like it's gonna want .cue and .Iso files, with the Redbook Audio either intact, or compressed, or emulate a CD drive.

In most cases, ScummVM can use CD audio directly from the game CD. If you don’t always want to insert the game CD to use the CD audio, you can extract the audio tracks from the CD and save them locally:

  1. Extract the CD audio tracks in WAV or AIFF format.
  2. Convert the tracks to either MP3, FLAC, M4A or OGG file formats.
  3. Place the converted audio files in the same folder that contains the other game datafiles.
  4. You can name them in several ways:
    1. track01.ogg - track12.ogg
    2. track1.ogg - track12.ogg
    3. track_01.ogg - track_12.ogg
    4. track_1.ogg - track_12.ogg

,
I think they want you to have an actual CD. Emulate a drive and see if that works or extract these files, and the audio, from the .bin/.cue you have
  • CGBUTTON
  • CHARGEN
  • CREDIT
  • FACE
  • FMSE
  • FONTK12
  • GO
  • ITEM
  • ITEMDAT
  • L1 - L12
  • LT
  • MAP
  • PCM
  • PLAYFLD
  • PORT
  • VISUAL
  • XD
Or just emulate a Sega CD. Sounds easier.

You can play the Sega CD version on ScummVM, it's just looking for loose files and not a bin/cue. You'll need to mount the disk image and extract the required files and convert the audio tracks if needed.

All you need to do is mount the cue file in Daemon Tools or other such tool and then point ScummVM to that drive letter. Or just emulate SegaCD directly.

If you're going the Daemon Tools route make sure you get some older version (like 4.45 or thereabout) because the modern ones are basically Chinese spyware, or so I've heard.
