As you've probably all noticed, I often post game news threads here. But I post them in Game Recommendations so I'm wondering if these threads belong there? My idea would be to maybe have a separate section just for game news. What do you think about this?

Maybe that can also be Interesting
Well you all know my Opinion on Remakes or more often than not demakes but hey maybe its of Interest to someone here

Why wouldn't it just fall under general gaming discussion, though?
I'd say it's fine as a dedicated section too. People who get annoyed with news posts (I don't) might be less annoyed with them too if they have their own subforum, so it doesn't feel like it's taking up space.

Hmm, strange. I've seen this picture from this profile, dany28, somewhere before. But I can't remember where. Well, okay, I have no idea what this is about but the idea is good because it annoys me too when there are too many game news.

Why wouldn't it just fall under general gaming discussion, though?
Game news and general gaming discussion may seem similar on the surface, but they serve fundamentally different purposes and deserve distinct spaces. Game news is centered around timely, factual updates, things like release announcements, patch notes, studio acquisitions, and trailer drops. These threads are typically informational and time-sensitive, meant to quickly inform the community about what’s happening right now. In contrast, general gaming discussion is more open-ended and opinion-driven, focusing on personal experiences, debates, and broader topics like game design trends or favorite genres. While both contribute to the gaming ecosystem, lumping them together can lead to clutter and confusion. A dedicated section for game news would improve discoverability, streamline recommendations, and allow users to engage more efficiently with the type of content they’re looking for, whether that’s breaking updates or thoughtful conversation. Separating them isn’t about overcomplicating things; it’s about respecting the different rhythms and intentions behind each type of thread. so In that context, general gaming discussion isn’t necessarily the most appropriate or dedicated space for gaming news.

I thought this thread was over?
You can’t just pitch an idea then decide it’s over once people start discussing, stop being so fickle lol, it has 8 upvotes so clearly it’s something people want.

While we wait and see... where are the news threads? Have there been any since this topic was raised? ::booshy

I frankly think it’s a decent idea. Gives a place for news to go! Means that if you don’t want to interact with modern gaming news, you don’t have to. And if you want to, well, now you have a dedicated place to give your take on the forum!

It’s just healthy for the forum in general. It’s not just Dany, as we have plenty of threads from other people that could be moved to such a place.

I think it whould depend on how we could categorize what are news and what are announcements. Like how we recently had the announcement of a new Dragon Quest remake, could that go to a dedicated Nintendo Direct news or to the Dragon Quest thread? Or both?
