a track you might be familiar with although it hasn't made it into the film. it was supposed to play during the end credits, closing the curtains on The End of Evangelion. Shiro Sagisu never fails to move me, he must certainly is one of the most versatile composers and definitely among my all time favorites. got reminded of this fact earlier this day while listening to a "Soft Tempo Lounge" mix, in which his track "Barefoot in the park" was surrounded by tracks from giants like Piero Umiliani or the Budapest Radio Orchestra. whether it is for Evangelion, Bleach, Berserk, Shin Godzilla or the Final Fantasy 6 Grand Finale album he arranged for Nobuo Uematsu (another personal favorite), his music always felt more like he's sountracking an ache or a wound older than the lonely teenage self for which his composition caters.
i ecourage you to read Hideaki Anno's poems which laid the groundwork for both "Everything You've Ever Dreamed"(M-11) and "Komm Susser Tod"(M-10). Mike Wyzgowski did an amazing job in translating and adapting his words into english.

Death will not become my redemption.
For the sake of my redemption, I live.
