"You're crying, I knew you'd cry, you always cry."

Ugly cry a cry that involves uncontrollably crying usually resulting in a distorted face and more than just tears as other orphases are affected. While usually negative it's also seen as a cathartic feeling of release often referred to as a "power cry".

An instance for me was learning my little brother was entering high school, and as a bonus I believe my friend also ugly cried himself, as when I called him to share the news, he hung up immediately, and then called back 10 minutes later hiding that he was sniffling. We basically raised that boy during our teens of which we also went to that same high school, so yeah. Anyway, what are some instances of ugly crying for you?

I tend to cry at most fiction that has me emotionally invested

Proper face-wrenching, "Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 1" ugly crying though?
definitely! But usually during rougher moments in life, or particularly relatable gut-wrenching moments in fiction.

Couple months ago I watched A Ghost Story and it was during a very bad case of mental stuff. So at some point I reflected on my life, ghost's life and started crying and couldn't stop. It was weird but somewhat freeing.

I guess my first ugly cry was when I was watching the last episodes of Angel Beats. Shit got so serious and sad, and kinda hit home, I was eating a sandwich and then I just found myself crying a lot so what I had was way more dramatic than this scene lol:

Beautiful cry
Yes, when your tears looks like stars shining and falling while it forms a rainbow and they sound like Ave Maria!!! lolol

And ugly cry is when you cry it looks like tons of volcanoes erupting and covering the sky with red clouds and it sounds like Symphony No 7 in A major, Op 92, II Allegretto!!! lolol

Ugly cry is not that

Certainly! A few months back in fact due to antidepressant withdrawal. Random intense crying every day alongside a host of other nasty things. Unfortunately I had to go back on them. Weaning off was a noble goal but I couldn't push through the dependency. I thought people were exaggerating when comparing some medication withdrawal to quitting hard drugs. I know better now. Maybe I'll try again when life's more stable.

When people have died for sure, at a few different movies for sure, and once at a concert.

When I was less-depressed I'd definitely have cathartic ugly-cries that would subconsciously build up due to whatever accumulative stresses I have in my life. The thing that would trigger it wouldn't even be that sad or emotive necessarily; just a spark that starts a fire I guess.

Too swamped in despair to really do that anymore, but maybe I should try. I don't think it ever made me feel better though, maybe more emotionally stable but I never felt happier afterwards.
