Ever had to return a rented game early because it was awful?

I used to rent Genesis and SNES games pretty regularly as a kid, and I tried to make the most of them because I wasn't likely to ever see them again (no way in hell was I gonna be able to save up enough to buy the full things, and many weren't even for sale anyway).

But these two, I had to admit defeat and return after just a few hours... which I'm still salty about:

Also: genuinely surprised that the DC had a rental market at all. I thought for sure that had stopped after the N64 era. Nice!

Yup, it was Superman 64. I rented it blind and hated every second of it. I rented from a local game shop that were nice enough to let me swap it for Fighting Force 64 instead.

Mine would have had some... Selected words amounting to "sucker" if I tried to swap one rental for another.

Never was allowed to rent games but renting movies was ok. Also I got Toy Story for Sega Genesis as a kid. Never beat it but i freaking loved it.

Chrono Trigger. That game was bad. Kidding aside I only remember bringing back Kings Quest V early only because it wouldn't load in my NES. Something probably broken in the cartrage. I told the store people about it and they put it back on the shelf anyway.

For me it was Robo Demons. But I beat that frustrating game mainly because it laughed at me when I died. The laughing just made me more determined.
