I have always been curious about coffee made from grains and beans other than, well, coffee ones.

Ever had a cup made from nuts? Acorns? Chicory? Something else?

My understanding is that they aren't all that great, but are still quite the energizing drinks and would more than do in a pinch (which is why they are all popular substitutes during wartime).

Please tell us your experiences with these.

I liked the Coffee + Milk when i tasted it (i think that is named Capucchino?)
But i didn't knew about coffee being made of non-coffee things.

If you like coffee and drink it because you like the taste then there are not a substitute.
*I tried the substitute and no one is even similar to coffee in taste.
If you want caffeine then you have a lot of others thing, I don't like coffee so for me when I need the caffeine I drink black tea or a monster.

In Australia we have this brand, I drink it daily. It isn't a one-for-one substitute, but it actually exceeds coffee in certain ways.

My grandmother used to keep Postum, it's sort of this wheat bran and molasses coffee substitute that's very popular with Mormons. Kind of tastes bland on it's own, but it did have a recipe on the back for a Cappuccino variant where you add cinnamon and sugar that was pretty great

Also have much love for their "Mr. Coffee Nerves" mascot

Wait this is my first time hearing this.

i'm not really a coffee drinker i might try it myself

In my opinion, substitute coffee is the same as substitute milk. You shouldnt go in drinking it with the mindset of an alternative coffee.

The substitute coffees I have tried have all tasted horrible ::frown

i can't do the instant stuff, the ones in those little packets that you're supposed to pour into a water bottle and shake it BLECH! But K-cups are ok if you're in a hurry.
