ePSXe v2.0.18

Looks like ePSXe is still in the game and won’t just bow down to DuckStation.
It's an update, I wouldn't call it a radical revamping/improvement. Would need about a dozen new features before it could hold up against Duckstation.

ePSXe 2.0.18 for windows have been released.

You can find it in the downloads section.

The changes are:

- Updated the emulator core to version 2.0.18, including multiple fixes.
- Support for ISOs in CHD format.
- Added support for DPI Awareness (enable it in Options), and fixed issues with high resolutions when it was not enabled.
- Fixed a bug when reading the configuration that caused the emulator to close if the overlock value was not selected.
- Improved reverb and volume management in SPUCORE, including fixes in: Ghost in the Shell, Dinocrisis 1 & 2, Wipeout, DW7, and DQ4.
- Compatibility improvements: Starfighter Sanvein, Need for Speed III/IV, Kagero Deception II, Captain Commando, Valkyrie Profile, Street Scooters, Metal Gear Solid - Special Missions (changedisc), V-Rally 2 (JAP), and Samurai Shodown III.
- Improved BIOS support for HLE: Groove Adventure Rave - Mikan no Hiseki, SimCity Japan.

Regards,
ePSXe Team.

EPSX might as well be the emulator that I've used for the biggest number of hours in my life, probably toe to toe with ZSNES. Duckstation is king now but most of the good memories are still with this old fella

Snes9x is still my favorite emulator. It's the poster boy for emulation perfect gaming.

Yeah, I also jumped to it when I upgraded from WinXP to Win7 and ZSNES stopped working correctly. Still miss the old ZSNES charm though 😅

For those interested here is a pack with ePSXe 2.0.18 plus Bioses 1001/7502 and the Pete's plugins:

Is it bad to wonder why exactly they'd keep updating it? It just feels so weird. Like, on the one hand, I'm glad, but as others have said, other emulators have done better by this point.

Mostly I'd only actually picked up Duckstation on the recommendation of one user, and I like it a lot, but before that it was just EPSXE and PCSXR, so, it's not like I haven't gotten some good use out of it~.

Yes, it appears that only the Windows version got the update. The Android version hasn't gotten an update since 2019.

I mean yeah. I told my friend to install it to play first three games from AC and we had a lot of trouble. I suggested also duckstation and it worked without any trouble whatsoever. Tho epsxe is also on the mobile too and surprisingly it runs without any trouble.

This new version of ePSXe is for Windows right?
Yes and for 32 Bit not 64 Bit

Android/Google Store had a UpDate this year

I thought they'd never update it, but I was wrong.
Thanks to ePSXe I started emulating PS1 games, but back then it was slow on mobile devices.

Now that I have more powerful phones... maybe I'll try it again.

Because it's not about what the project can do, but simply doing the project. The idea of resurrecting and improving game consoles on modern hardware is a more recent development in the emulation community's "thinking." Granted, it's a very good way of thinking. Creates an entire new indie industry/fan/mod community on steroids. Also, keeps interest in old school style games alive in both major tech industry and indie market places.
