Im going thru a lot of psx games like breath of fire 3, lunar 1 and 2, alundra, ff tactics, g darius, galaxy fraulein yuna, galerians, harmful park, growlanser etc but now its saying my emulator has zero memory for saving ( non save states.. the memory card stuff).. how do I make more memory for ePSXe saves?

enter the folder, copy the memcard files and paste and rename file to something else. Start ePSXe and go to the memory card section and select them. Load bios and delete the saves to create blank memory card and repeat step 1.

When you go to memcard settings in ePSXe there should be an option labeled 'use individual memcards by game' or something like that. Just enable that and every game will have its own separate memcard going forward.

I STRONGLY recommend you switch to Duckstation. Epsxe is ancient. Lacking both features, and many of the more enticing things it could do have been lost due to file loss/link rot over the years. For example good luck getting the Natural Vision Shader install package. Not only does Duckstation automatically "fix" your issue, it also does a thousand other things better, too. Also, epsxe never was 100 percent system complete, either. Several games still have critical problems with sound not syncing/playing correctly.

totally true, ePSXe was good back in the day, but it has become obsolete, it's kinda like a ZSNES situation

i believe you, but im on a potato and epsxe seems to work for me more than duckstation.. i have it, it just bitches at me when i... nevermind!! duckstation is working now.. im stupid

Duckstation is GREAT if the game you're playing has 3D gfx and you can multiply your resolution. For games that are 2D ePSXe is recommended. Those 2D games dont look good on duckstation, it doesnt matter if you multiplying the resolution or not. Peops plugin usually is good for those games because of its filters.

I know the epsxe is not fully complete but still, 97% of ps1 library are compatible with the emulator

I have your solution: Switch to Duckstation. It is a far superior emulator.

I also used ePSXe for years and really liked it, But it is time to put the

Maybe in the past. I'm getting results as good as I ever got on Epsxe with 2D sprites.

What? Peops plugins is software based and most it can do is apply a normal bilinear filtering to the image, same thing that Duckstation does in native resolution with "smooth" filter applied.

Epsxe had a special sub filter application that allowed shader packages to be used for certain mods/filters. It was janky as hell, but when it worked. It worked very well. They're difficult to find nowadays because the old hosting sites are nearly all gone and nobody gives a shit given that Duckstation can do it just as good with warping correction, too. And, has proper 2d/3d upscaling combined. However, here's a few examples of how good some of the old Epsxe filters looked

Here was the "best" general settings for Epsxe. Dat "Widescreen" "fix." The shader effects for natural vision looked really good. Not as good as Duckstation does with high resolution and geometry correction, doh

Anyway, this is ancient history. OP should use Duckstation. It's better than the results I just gave by a country mile and should work even on a potato.

Peops has HQ2x and HQ3x filters aside others. Those are better for 2D games. Other plugins are better for 3D.

Holy shit, who uses HQ2X or any other filter for those games and call it "better"? that looks atrocious. Not only because it looks terrible but because it ruins the intended art... One can say that a CRT TV is the proper way but raw pixels are what the dev did first, quite probably in a VGA monitor of course.

Can't say I disagree with you on the HQ based filters, hence my take on using higher internal resolutions, or using simple 2X/4X filters like on SNES9X. The texture warping correction on Duckstation usually preserves the original image while properly enhancing it, too. The CRT and Scanlines thing is generally just an "oldschool" way of jacking with the image to do what can now be done manually, without issue. Natural Vision shader simply applied Anistropic Filtering and Blur Effect, which looked good at higher internal resolutions, but poorer on lower resolutions.

only issue is that current version requires W10 and above. People with ancient pcs with windows XP sp3/7/8 are better off with ePSXe

Win 10 machines are effectively ancient nowadays. So, that's like saying epsxe wouldn't run on Macintosh II.

there was a hassle when Steam dropped Win7 support
I mean those ancient pcs. W10 machines are still new and preferred to w11
