So this is kind of upsetting. Archie Digests, which were an honest to god staple of many childhoods, are ceasing production in favor of alternatives

Tbh, I kind of feel like they might have run out of a material to cycle through, but who knows?
they stopped selling the Sonic ones a long time ago, but regular Archie has been going on for decades being sold in grocery stores and magazine racks. I hope there's an archive for all of them.

I'm honestly surprised it lasted this long. I have a couple of Archie books somewhere in this house but they're more of a 'chuckle while I read on the toilet' once every few years than they are something I'd run out and buy regularly. I can't imagine I'm in the minority on this. Nothing against Archie, it's a fun and light read every time, but it was a good run while it lasted.

That sucks. I used to look forward to weekly grocery store trips with my dad because if they didn't have the newest issue of GamePro out then he'd buy an Archie Comics digest for me. The Jughead digests were always my favorite, probably because I was a young kid who thought girls had cooties and Jughead appealed to me as a fictional character who acted like girls had cooties.
