Electronic Arts has been sold for $55 Billion

Meanwhile the sweaty hairy dudes are wearing little undies they call rastlin trunks
Depending on individual preferences, Rhea Ripley in a full-body leather suit may be an improvement ::cirnoshrug

Wow that is a lot of money hopefully everything will go better then at EA.

What's funny is that almost the entirety of that price tag is tied directly to the many IPs the company has acquired or created -- the rest of it is practically worthless.

Noice, thats alot of Remasters releases to refill the empty pot.

If it gets worse than current EA, who cares? Current EA is absolutely awful. What EA game are you excited for? Maybe Battlefield? Otherwise, they have nothing.

Hopefully bin Salman and Kush are fans of Mirror's Edge.

their cashcow was fifa soccer till fifa abandoned them

Didnt they also help fund SNK's new Fatal Fury game?
Yep . That was a dumpster-fire. They put two real-life soccer-players for an IP that wasnt as huge but still beloved in the SNK-fandom and made it very mediocre in the sequel .
Back then i wished for a Sequel to Garou: mark of the wolves but i expected great pixel-art again and more arcadey goodness .

And it died down fast .

I think the saudis arent competent about game-design and actually bringing out their slop into the cesspool of tripple AAA gaming thanks to legacy-publishers/studios .

Real life people shouldn't be in a game imo.

Even that one Walking Dead character cameo in Tekken already felt weird and out of place.

Pixel art is too expensive but I agree, they could've done something akin to Guilty Gear Xrd or adding a great shading for that.

Yeah it starts getting stupid and feels like a cheap advertisement and the publisher sold out to make extra $.

I feel bad for all the people who are imminently about to be laid off from EA just vefore christmas. I do my best to avoid buying EA games generally, but thats just a sucky situation to be in. Hopefully they seed another rich crop of well-liked indie projects that are successfully putting food on their table.

Ofc this can backfire but I think this has the potential to be a great thing. Specially the fact that it will turn private.

Gaming has become a greedy corpo wasteland because companies are always trying to get more and more profit, always trying to reach a broader audience even if it doesnt fit the IP or game identity and/or put an aggressive ingame shop to satisfy the "Did we get more than last year?" question of the investors.

It might be in time to save BF6, a game that looks amazing, but according to rumors the investors wants SO much from it that it probably force the devs to eat their words and put silly stuff like CoD so they can get close to what they are expecting to earn.

Games that change management during development circle yield even worse results than expected

R.I.P. EA
they have been crap for a while now but now they are over.

Counter point:

Not necessarily games that change hand in mid development turn out to be bad. In this case they kicked out the main mind behind the project (Chris Roberts). So I think there is hope.

And if not, sadly EA has prove that cannot be trusted, maybe we need to see some bad games before they can finally stand up again.
