As long as it's updated i have nothing to say.
Same here. I've been using DuckStation for about two years and I'm happy with it, even though, as I said before, I find certain settings totally useless. Why I stuck with ePSXe for so long? Because it was familiar, and I knew no different.
Why I eventually chose to move to DuckStation? I joined a speed running community for Metal Gear Solid, and when I asked why everyone used DuckStation, they made it clear in no uncertain terms that it was the superior emulator in almost every respect, and I agree.
I believe the duckstation dev came onto the PCSX2 project and did the UI (among other contributions), so that is why. Is that what you meant? It is not like the PCSX2 team saw what duckstation was doing and copied it.Duckstation is my PS1 emulator of choice. It's so good it got PCSX2 to actually update their UI to something that looks like it was made this century.
I think this is the first time I hear someone using Mednafen to emulate something that´s not Saturn, glad to hear it runs fine :DI mostly used Mednafen's emulator because it is good enough, but Duckstation is probably superior because you can upscale everything. ePSXe for me was always bad, seriously, the emulator was infamous because it couldn't run Xenogears.
Mednafen is also great for PC Engine (TG16)I think this is the first time I hear someone using Mednafen to emulate something that´s not Saturn, glad to hear it runs fine :D
I used it until I discovered Duckstation. I mostly now use it for Saturn, Wonderswan and Turbografx.I think this is the first time I hear someone using Mednafen to emulate something that´s not Saturn, glad to hear it runs fine :D
Duckstation, on the other hand, I had trouble getting used to right from the start. It's not light at all, not intuitive enough and, in my opinion, has settings that are quite useless for a PS1 emulator.
I use Retroarch with the pcsxreARMed core because of the CRT Shaders, but duckstation is very good
Duckstation is the way to go. Doesn't crash, boots the games very well, graphics are more crisp, but the only thing lacking is that it doesn't quack.
Well, I don't have problems with higher system requirements on DuckStation. As my PC isn't well with actual games, the emulator works perfectly in various aspects, such as Memory Cars(you can use mcr.files of ePSXe on the emulator), a support to XBox Controllers, an easy Cheat Menu usage, and easy disk swapping menu.
Duckstation
Cons:
- Modern, clean interface
- High compatibility with 3D games
- Real-time settings adjustments during gameplay
- Actively maintained with frequent updates
- Enhanced graphics and widescreen hacks
- CHD ( easily the best format to use at this day and age )
- Slightly higher system requirements
Pros:
EPSXE
Cons:
- Runs well on low-end devices
- Plugin system allows deep customization
- Outdated interface and plugin management can be confusing
- Poor emulation of 2D graphics and disk swapping bugs
- Rarely updated and lacks modern features
