News Duckstation dev blocks Arch Linux users, threatens to completely remove Linux support

I have a bit more info on that than i'm willing to share here so i have my doubts, but in case i am wrong i will cease discussing it, like i said.

You ARE wrong, actually.

Kiwi farms is a interesting place, best way i could describe that site, didn't know byuu was put in a thread there, first and last time i went to that site was well over a decade ago, didn't know it was still alive, not really into the internet drama and "lolcow" stuff.

If by "interesting place" you mean a website dedicated to doxxing and harassing anybody who committed the terrible "crime" of being autistic, then you're right.

You need to calm down, i am trying to be nice here but every single one of your posts is trying to enflame a situation, i said i'm stepping away from it, if that's not good enough for you then that's your problem.

Also if you don't get what i meant by interesting, than that's again, your problem.

Chill, guys, don't fight ::holdup
Well you can guess why i "should" be allowed to defend myself considering he's literally calling me a criminal now but i won't as it will cause drama, anyway i'm just ignoring him now, so don't worry about it, i've dealt with his type before.
I'm seeing quite a few Rule #1 violations here.

I don't like it.
Yeah i'm just leaving the thread, since he'll cause more trouble if i stay here.

it's been confirmed. That was like, the only KF thread I ever checked bc I admired Near and info did circulate there if nothing else. Null received evidence proving it and the party line shifted from "Didn't happen" to "Well, uhhh, not our fault lol"

anyway the topic of this thread seems like a non-issue tbh. duckstation guy can remove linux support if it's annoying and he wants. idk why people are semi-vitriolic about it. he should probably just, actually do it instead of writing baiting notes if it's that annoying though.

I'm looking into it myself, just want to confirm things with my own eyes.

What was even more peculiar was the way KW shut down. It was an undercover mission by the FBI in collaboration with some supposedly secret leftist(!) group, as if such groups didn't already had their hands full with the FBI.

I mean pc, whether handheld or desktop, IS the future of gaming with mobile being a big component as well, consoles are dying which is why sony and microsoft are pivoting to a soft multiplatform strategy, so it makes sense to start thinking about future strategies.

Not really relevant here, but it wasn't.

Lots of assumptions in this thread. It's as if you guys are so bored being on a dead forum that you'd try to raise drama for a total non-issue. Desperate for reaction points. XD
Haven't seen you in a while! ::heart I hope it is a non-issue because I use the AUR build (well ok, technically the chaotic-aur build) of duckstation and like it and don't want it removed ::sadkirby
Good news for ArchLinux users!
I think someone from the AUR contacted the dev and is discussing to do the support themselves in a good manner and a way Stenzek agrees.
That's cool, do you have more info to support that? I think it was your pfp that even alerted me to this today, then I saw this thread, guess I'm always out of the loop :loldog

Like @_oBSOLEte_ said, lots of assumptions. And imo, it seems like some have a bias against linux users itt ::sadkirby. It is not like the developer is pressured to support linux: the source code is on git. For those that don't understand, the developer is not being"forced" to support linux, rather they are going out of their way (by putting in code to make it not build on arch specifically) for whatever reason they have against the AUR. The AUR only provides scripts to build packages from git, nothing else.

well, it's relevant enough to make a post about so i am going to reply

in the sense that things are very rarely attributable to 1 cause, yes, that's true. near had a lot of stuff going on. a completely mentally and emotionally healthy person would be able to shrug off an internet forum. but that kind of doesn't matter. you have to meet people where they are. KF served as a pretty concrete and undeniable causal link in the chain of events leading to near's death.

but i was actually speaking as to what the people on the website were saying, and downstream from that, whether or not they felt responsible, and they did/do. this is an answer we can kind of arrive at inductively. if they didn't feel that the culture festering there wasn't in some way partially culpable in the event that Near had died, the denial of facts wouldn't have been so vehement for literal years.
