I've only played the NDS version myself, so... I hope that's some help ::cirnoshrug It was really good, but I had a few very minor problems with the story.

Snes Pixels makes it somehow more enjoyable .

It just feels like home to play it on the snes . The 3D-models feel more artificial and doesnt translate well with their more longer animation and rather slow approach .

The DS version is the best, mechanically superior and the most up-to-date.
The PS2 version is fine, and has cool 3D graphics and a lovely orchestral soundtrack, but has less features overall and is only an fan translation which some people might prefer (I don't know how accurate it is, but it was serviceable enough, if a bit rigid), but I personally love the silly accents in the official releases.
The SNES version is also fine, and is the "purest" if you like that. I don't like that half-tile movement that all the SNES DQ games have so I found it really cumbersome. The graphics are really basic compared to all other SNES DQs too.

Though with DQ5, any version you pick is still great because it's such an excellent game.

The regional accents are a vital part of Dragon Quest's DNA to me!

Same here, but some people online get REEEEALLY anal over it.
Depending on who you ask Dragon Quest either has, like, the very best, or the very worst, localizations with no inbetween.
I'm certainly the former!

I'll admit they sometimes trip me up and I might have to read a sentence twice, but it adds so much charm for me.
