I like Z, Super, and also some parts of GT. They all have glaring problems. and the plot has never been geniously written, but it's still fun to watch.

I don't like the Kid Goku Saga, at least until he meets King Piccolo

I absolutely loathe Daima so far.

Why do you hate daima?

In general I don't like such infantile humor. It's also the same reason I don't like the first half of OG Dragon Ball, the one with Kid Goku.

Also, Daima so far has horrendous character designs. The internet went crazy for the new Vegeta transformation, but I think he looks down right ugly lmao

Fair enough

In terms of what? Viewership? Popularity wise? Quality? Personal preference? No on all accounts. One Piece and Slam Dunk beat it. And for me, personal preference above anything else, greatest anime series is a toss up between Cowboy Bebop, or Saint Seiya. Dragon Ball was superior to Z, and if Z ended after Vegeta and Nappa, it would be up there for me. Quality dropped off a cliff animation quality wise long the show went, and it began to show on Namek.

I’ve never watched had the chance to watch the Dragon Ball anime, but I have read all of it. I’ll admit, I’m more biased towards the goofy, adventure, tongue in cheek potty gag humor with the first 16 volumes of Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump when it comes to Toriyama. Manga Theater is pretty fantastic collection of his one shots and short stories. He’s very eclectic and versatile on Manga Theater, plus his gags are sharp and well written. He was an immensely creative, imaginative, and (also hilarious) talented artist, still extremely sad about his death, I was so shocked when I heard about it. My heart really sank that day. Nevertheless, his character designs for other media, such as Chrono and Dragon Quest are the gold standard.

Also, fun fact, there is a prototype for DB called Dragon Boy that was published in 83' really neat! I should probably get around to watching DB eventually. I do still love DBZ, it doesn’t take it self too seriously.

+I love Mr. Satan, he’s my favorite!

I like dragon ball

I think we cannot really have one greatest anime.

Sure, DB is one of the most popular (rightfully so) but there aren't only Nekketsu Shonens around. This would be a bit dishonest towards Shojos and Seinens to be disqualified from being great.

i tried looking up vegeta's new form. is it seriously just ssj3?

Definitely top tier.
If you haven't watched Guyver. I highly suggest.
They have an older series and a 2007 series all the same story line. Just updated graphics. I still enjoy watching the original the best.

I think DB set the standard of shines anime a lot of manga/anime followed its footsteps.

My major complain is about power scaling inconsistencies, filler-ish moments in major battles to pad out the action (Goku vs Vegeta lasted less than in the anime which is why in the manga the pacing felt much more dynamic) and maybe having less of that adventure feel in the later anime.

Sandland is for me a worthy successor of Dragon Ball before it became much more battle orientated.

It managed to get me interested enough to keep me watching all the way from the very first episode of DB to the first half of GT. And that's no small feat.

I love the anime but prefer the manga over it after reading through it. It is much more fast paced in comparison to the anime dragging out fights for 10 episodes like Goku vs Frieza. It maybe my favourite even if there are series that are better written. Definitely has some of the best music whether it is the Kikuchi or the Faulconer score. Plus the series has great consistency in the quality of its games.

I like dragon ball too, I watched a lot as a kid ,I don't watch too much anime but if I have to chose ,hunter maybe ?

Hunter is really good

It's a bit late but I really wish that Gotenk was the hero of the Buu saga like how Gohan was the hero of the Cell one.

Each major arc having a different member but the publisher wanted Goku as the main protag...

This is why Goten looked like Kid Goku and why GT had Goku becoming a kid again... I dislike how they also made non-Saiyans useless despite several upgrades for Piccolo and how Krilin is the strongest human yet leagues below most major antagonists...

I know that it would sound like a fan-fic but I do wish we got a real sequel to Z that would go back to the roots with lower stakes but all about Pan and Oob training and having adventures but I think people want more powerful antagonists and a female protagonist for a shonen wouldn't have worked as well.

Don't get me wrong. I grew up on Dragon Ball and DBZ. I have nostalgia and genuine love for it. I love a lot of the characters, story moments, battles, and tons of the merch and games from it. It's also had a profound and priceless positive impact on anime and manga as a whole. Also, Akira Toriyama deserved all the love and respect he garnered and still does in death...

...but from an objective standpoint? I honestly would struggle to even put it in the "great" tier.

Dragon Ball Z is one of the greatest overrated anime, great for its time but boring, nonsense and pretty ridicolous compared to other anime.
I love Dragon Ball, it's more fun. Super is just stupid.
