I was also having the desynch audio with the version downloaded from here, on both Ymir and Beetle, both with no RAM expansion and with 4GB RAM.

Decided to do the patching myself on a Redump2k sourced dump and I no longer have any audio desynch on any emulator on or without the RAM expansion.
Now I think I want to try that myself because it sounds better to have the extra ram anyway.

Yeah that trick seems to work perfect even with yabasanshiro. BTW, thank you! If using yabasanshiro, there will be a white border on the right side during cutscenes. This only happens with v1.1, not 1.0. Not sure why. But the psx script has far superior voice acting. Alucard sounds like he has a spine in this one. And Maria is better than her Rondo version on the PSP sotn. No bird chucking, just kamehameha. I wish she could use the menu and items though, but she and Richter are second mode characters.

For those having audio syncing issues, I found that this only happens when using a 4M RAM cart. When I set the RAM cart setting in retroarch to "Auto Detect", this problem didn't occur. This is with the beetle saturn core. Might be an issue with the RAM cache.

Edit: To clarify, the audio issue occurred if I forced the emulator to assume a 4M RAM cart.

Weird the retroarch beetle saturn core (aka mednafen core) has the voice acting problems for me, and I just updated all my cores like 2 days ago. I'll try updating the core and try it again tonight.

Not sure what you mean here. The Dracula X Ultimate patch 1.1 has been around for a while, and it had the PSP script and audio for the English translation.

This new version has all the same features, but throws the old PS1 script and audio into it.
I think this so called fork has more features than the original ultimate and the poster wants the psp translation inserting into this variant. I could be wrong though.

please add a version that has the psp script, I'm not a fan of the fact that these bug fixes are bundled with this addition.

I was able to run this in Retroarch's Beetle Saturn without any issues. The issues I was having in Ymir 0.2 with voice acting lines playing out of order and/or with weird volume aren't present in Beetle, or at least in the first interaction with Dracula there were no problems.

Sadly, this one doesn't work on MiSTer. The previous PSP script version does work on MiSTer though, so not sure what happened with this one. It plays, but the voices cut in and out and then get out of sync. Like Dracula has his death cry before the battle even starts, and then when he does die, Death starts talking to Alucard instead of Dracula screaming his last breath. It's weird.

Windows = Ymir

Android = Saturn.emu
Great thanks for the info. Another question; How do I use Ymir 💀? I downloaded the current release fromits github page and Im not finding an exe to start it.

EDIT: Turns out I downloaded the wrong version haha. Nvm

I mean, some people might prefer the PS1 script for a number of reasons, which may include "Because it's closer to how it'd be if it was officially released in the West" or "For the memes"

I don't really adhere to the "released first is the best" mindset either. The initial Japanese release of the Saturn port of Suiko Enbu was...not great. Even now iconic games like Half-Life 2 launched in less than flattering shape.

Saturn version just seems to be cursed atp

  • We have a 4M version that's undubbed but not fully localized
  • We have a PSP script version which fixes many issues and adds QoL updates, and would easily be definitive way to play if the creators actually fully integrated the dub (and reverted the ugly dialogue font), instead of frankly acting like massive pricks every time you tell them that it's unfinished, or as a compromise, release an undub alt
  • And now we have a fork of it, which fixes even more bugs. Yet for some, now comes with a caveat of having PSX script. But unlike PSP, this time it's fully integrated. Grunts and all
Frankly I just want a simple option. Let us choose what script to use, cuz it's getting ridiculous just how many hacks there are of the Saturn release, none that can be considered the absolute best

Anyone else getting a wonky opening scene on original hardware? The audio volume is up and down and it skips in and out.
Yup; tried this last night both on a Saroo and with a burned disc. Audio played too fast in the opening cutscene after fading in, then started playing the first Death meeting audio when I beat Dracula. Played as Maria, found certain enemies have this weird volume swell where they begin quiet then gradually increase when they'd die. On Mednafen, it worked perfectly fine, but it definitely needs more time in the oven to play on real hardware.

I am, dunno if it's the weird combo I'm using of a Saroo cartridge in a PAL Saturn (don't get on my case about that, I don't have the means to play an NTSC one right now). So, sadly, I'll be going back to the previous version with the PSP script for now.
