Don't feel like playing games anymore

After a bad experience with a toxic person on a Discord server, I'm trying to retain not having a bad association with the series in general; I don't see myself getting into the later games in the series because of that person going on about them all the time though.

It was the kind of thing where they were being civil to me at first, but then became increasingly shitty toward me for no apparent reason until I ended up getting banned; not because of my own behavior so much as the fact that they are part of a clique and I am not.
Well that's fandoms and discord in general for you...

If you dig deep enough in any of that you can have a bad association with just about anything. There is probably some teletubbies forum out there filled with psychos.
I'm glad I left that kind of shit, man. Discords and fandoms I mean, not the teletubbies forums.
I wouldn't know anything about that. ::rofl

For me indeed.
I cannot tell you how many communities I have been banned from for unfair reasons as such.

Also there might have been one or two where it was actually my fault for my actions. ?

I had a similar thing happen on muOS discord. Heaps of folks were posting increasingly messed up memes on the "funny" thread at one point, and apparently the meme I found and posted about the Paris Olympics was overstepping and "offensive". Just so you have an idea it was two people who appeared to be women standing over male urinals with the Paris logo on the wall above, no other text. Imo it was a massive over-reaction, and kind of a weird thing to happen on an app called "discord". ,?‍♂️

Oh dude, I feel you on that. I made a joke tonight and basically got banned for swearing; not at or towards anyone and not even in anger.

Some shitty people do be out there for sure.

As soon as I had the money I went on a spending spree on Steam for my new Steamdeck and the next year I hit up every rom site downloading so much I might have caused a crash or two. Did I game at all during that time and now? No not really. I even bought a new release I haven't even tried out yet because work has me tired that I need a dedicated weekend or 3 day weekend with nothing to do, not even chores to try something new as any gaming I do is something with muscle memory and years of knowledge to just relax to as I don't have enough time to learn a new game anymore and just want instant gratification.

Same to my book collection. I bought so much and I know I need to get rid of it but because it's not a chore and reading should be fun I can't schedule a time to really tackle the book hoard when I just want to relax with something I know to get the same feeling of satisfaction. I've lost the enjoyment in just exploring because I've lost the time for it and now have conditioned myself to chase old highs than try and fail to get that same hit by trying something new.

Honestly why I don’t share my gaming experiences much (ironic since I’m on a forum about gaming) , there’s just so many voices that it can drown out my own. Things go by so fast; Personally I find that pressure to jump to the next thing right after completing something, it really dampens the spark of the things I love if I’m just trying to keep up with other’s opinions, to be able to say how much I’ve done. It’s nice to sit with things. Thus I try to keep in mind why I’m doing things in the first place, not to get through it but to enjoy it. Also there’s this pressure that you should try to get through a piece of media just because it’s what everyone else recommends, but it just doesn’t click. I’m supposed to be having fun, not doing a chore.

Maybe this is helpful , maybe it’s not. But this is just my personal experience with this feeling you’ve explained ::coffee

Some things to try
-Just do something else. I know it can feel weird, like you're turning your back on a hobby that you've invested so much in, but it'll still be there when you're ready to play again. (Especially if it's a Nintendo or a Dell Optiplex. Those will probably outlive you.) If you like to tinker a lot, take up coding or something.
-Integrate another hobby into gaming, like article writing or YouTube, then playing video games feels more productive.
-Give your dopamine receptors a break. We have access to an infinite amount of effortlessly consumable audio-visual content in our pockets all the time. Our brains get used to easy dopamine, making the delayed gratification of some games difficult. Train yourself to do things you have trouble maintaining the attention span for. Usually watch YouTube? Watch a 50-something episode anime in chunks. Used to doomscrolling? Read a book or even just a long manga. Maybe just meditate in silence for a while or go for a walk.
