Does watching the news affect your mood?

Problem is, the people in power know the effect the news has on the average person and are exploiting this to accumulate more power to themselves. Trying to avoid politics here, but more and more of the wealth of the world is being accumulated in the hands of a smaller group of people. And AI is slowly destroying our opportunities in the workforce. If we let things be and go as they are currently standing, it may not lead to good things in the future. If you are a young person and care about your future, it is not prudent to ignore what's happening in the world.
There is no future but what you make for yourself in the present. Evil men talk of the future, fools talk of the past, and wise men speak of the here and now. There is only ever one time when you should act, and that is now. Still, the action one takes is as times so ephemeral and elusive as to escape even his own grasp. And, he doesn't realize he's already combating the evil with every breath he takes.

I tried to avoid news as much as possible. Because the truth is never told; most of it is usually fake or fear-mongering. Occasionally, it's unavoidable that I have to watch something like that but I avoid it as much as possible. It's not good to always have to know everything that's going on in the world.

To a certain extent, I agree with what you are saying. All that's under our control is how we tackle every day and the challenges in front of us. The present is the most important thing. But the things I'm speaking of are happening right now in the present and have dire consequences for the future. I have no idea how to address it, but it starts by creating awareness and discussion.

Never made it as a wise man.
Couldn't cut it as a poor man stealing.
Tired of living like a blind man.
I'm sick of sight without a sense of feeling.
And this is how you remind me.

One thing that's really getting under my skin is how most news outlets treat the local population as irredeemable bastards, almost delighting on highlighting isolated acts of cruelty while ignoring everything else.

We get bombarded with stories about robberies to the elderly, yet I had to dig (really dig) for mentions of doctors performing near miracles and communities helping each other out.

Which, leads to personal action and day to day trends, which further spiral into productivity and a cultural view point shared by many. It is in effect the antibody of propaganda, which we combat evil with. Our day to day discussion and actions. For example, I've noticed that AI has been further and further bent towards specific tool applications as people have come down harder on it as a sole compositor. Even the megalomaniac proponents of it are curbing their advocacy and acknowledging the drawbacks. However, I can also tell you that I was nearly the victim of a so called "self driving car" the other day when walking down the street. Came within inches of sending me to the hospital. of course it's piloted by "AI." Now, that was an example of taking my life into my own hands and dealing with a situation that was merely fiction when I was a child. A "terminator" in all but name. We must advocate, act, and live against that which is evil. And, evil is defined by that which is not good. And, good is that which benefits at least some one. So, we can do the most good with our own hands for ourself in the immediacy.

I try to consume news in moderation and avoid doomscrolling, as it's good to stay informed but I do find it impacts my mood if I engage too much with it.

Nah I quit caring about news long time ago. The world is slowing going to hell and I say at this rate humanity will not be around in another 10 years. So why fret over it HUMANS are stupid people that fight over dirt and feelings and paper with printed value. I never seen so much stupidity.

I just focus on enjoying my short life doing what I love play games watch anime and xxx to hell with the world.

I miss those olden times when right after the late night news show there was a comedy show making fun of all that dark stuff you just saw to balance it out. I remember watching some very weird skits like John Nearsighted: NATO Pilot trying to break the world record for the number of hospitals bombed or a Soviet chef teaching how to cook babies ::eggmanlaugh

I can't tell if this dissolving into memes was unexpected or the plan all-along ;D!
Call it a happy accident. Politics are an old and tired topic of conversation. Where one's values are not tested, but degraded and ultimately abandoned for the lamentations of the ego. Seek out that which you love and preserve if it for no other reason than that alone.

ggrrrrr, just murder, thievery and corruption, same old same old :@

That Orthodox Celts track is great - Thanks for showing me a new tune.

Posting high quality Irish (even sung by Serbians) music is something I always do at every available opportunity.

I follow local news (mainly in my own city, and often about my province), because those are the ones that are the most important to me.

The other stuff you usually absorb by osmosis some way or other, both bad and good. Easier not to focus too hard on it that way.
