Does there exist a program similar to Locale Emulator for Windows 9x?

Good evening.
I am planning on installing a Windows 95 VM in 86Box on my ASUS ROG Ally. And I was just wondering if there exists a program similar to Locale Emulator for Windows 9x which can spoof an English operating system into running games in another language?

For games that require win95, i use dosbox i have setup on my WinXp and raspberry pi. There are a few games that don't work, but for the rest, it is pretty solid and don't have to do anything. You might need to find an online video to understand how to run it, but its really simple.

No. Locale emulators depend on Windows functions that were only added in XP. I assume you are trying to play Japanese games? If the game does not work on English Win9x, you will need to set up a separate VM running Japanese Windows.

Windows 95 runs on top of DOS. You can install it inside DOSbox, and then install 9x software inside that. An 86box setup like the OP is using will give better compatibility, though, at the cost of infinitely higher system requirements (86box is a "real" emulator, you have to pick out a motherboard and CPU and such and feed it dumps of the relevant firmware, and then your system will emulate it at the hardware level. lots of fun!!!)

I have no idea either. Some games just work, it's beyond my capacity to understand why.

I think it may have to be with specific games that came with that backward compatibility.

Lutris and Wine in WinXP mode can be set to play Japanese games in the "system options", depending on the game.

There are a few """win9x""" games that run in DOS mode for performance reasons, like when an old console would unload its BIOS to free up memory. As a result you are able to launch them from DOS. More "happy accident" than conscious decision.
